Forums - Sony - Metal Gear Solid Collection...Quick Question

Here's everything you get:

Metal Gear Solid on 2 CDs, original copies for Playstation One. It has all VR Missions that were included on the original game but not the content found on Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions. It requires a PS One memory card to save data if you plan on playing this on a PS2. If you play it on PS3, you can make a virtual memory card for PS One to save it. It is now packaged in a DVD case with new artwork different from the original all white cover.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance on one DVD, which includes MGS2: Sons of Liberty and all extra modes included like Skateboarding, the VR Missions and Snake Tales. It also comes in a DVD case with original artwork. It does not include "The Document of MetalGear Solid 2" which was included only with the JPN version I believe.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence comes with a complete disc one of the two disc collection in a DVD case with original artwork on the cover. This is where there is a problem because almost all of the extra content of Subsistence was on Disc 2. You will get MGS3: Snake Eater with the 3rd person camera system and Snake vs. Monkey minigames. What was on disc two you miss out on is the Duel Mode, Demo Theater, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Snake's Revenge and the now defunct online multiplayer.

If you are a big MGS fan, you should really have owned Substance and Subsistence already and this collection should be considerable if you no longer own your copies or just love collecting anything MGS related. For those just getting into the series, the $30 entrance fee and the possiblity of an eBay visit for a PS One memory card is well worth it since Substance and Subsistence are each over $25 used at Gamestop and Metal Gear Solid is only available used in stores for the Gamecube in the superior MGS: Twin Snakes form. I hope that helps for anyone who wasn't sure about this.

 Theres not that many.

Metal Gear

Metal Gear 2- Solid Snake

Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid  2

Metal Gear Solid 3

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops

Those are the main storyline games but if you dont feel like playing the orignal Metal Gear games for the NES then you could get away with just Metal Gear Solid 1,2,3 and get a great understanding of the game

When you get really into it that when you will want to play

Don't forget Metal Gear Solid for the GBC (aka Metal Gear Ghost Babel).

Also, if you want to watch the cut-scenes and are desperately broke, MGS fans have downloaded walk-throughs of MGS, MGS2 and MGS3 on Youtube. Do an MGS search, and you'll find them pretty fast. Video quality isn't great, but it's fascinating to watch how the series progressed over time...
