1UP: More Evidence That A FFVII Remake is en Route to The PS3

If you haven't read 1UP's Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core interview yet, you should. A very interesting response came to one of 1UP's questions, which alludes to a possible remake of Final Fantasy VII, since no other games have been announced, even though all of the original 'Compilation of Final Fantasy VII' titles announced years back (Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, Before Crisis) have now come out. The quote in question goes as follows.

1UP: Does Crisis Core mark the finale for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series?

Hajime Tabata: No, it does not. The Compilation's finale will take some other form.

So how does that mean a remake is coming? You don't think they know anything with FFVII, cloud, or Sephiroth makes stupid amounts of money and they aren't going to whore it out more spinoffs?

The OP isn't assuming shit. The OP was posting an article from 1UP that said PS3. READ.

You see the BIG BLUE BANNER...that is the name of the article (WHICH I DIDN'T WRITE...BUT PASTED)

However, I do personally think a FFVII remake or spin-off will come to the ps3 eventually.  Usually if you do a remake (not a spin-off, but direct remake) of a game, you improve it graphically big time--that would imply the ps3 or 360....

Where do you think it will go then? Somehow i don't think the Wii would be a viable option considering how badly 3rd party games are doing on it! And if it went to the 360 they can kiss the Japanese market goodbye, the likely options are either the PSP, DS or PS3...

Yes, my comment wasn't really directed at you, it's just silly to assume that they aren't planning to whore the series out more.

I *guarantee* you that there is a FFVII remake coming, I just wouldn't place money on it being the thing mentioned in that interview.

Is there some licensing reason why it would have to come to a PS system?

The quotes just say it isn't over, not where it is going.

EDIT: My bet, based on Japan userbase %'s, would be DS or Wii. 

 Not all 3rd party games do bad on the Wii.  I imagine wherever FFVII does go it will do well.
