Forums - Gaming - 8th Gen, Era of the loading screen. Is it getting worse?

Here's what I learned in my 3 decades of gaming: the kids will always bitch about pointless bull shit... Ahem, like loading times.

This is horrible... but at least Sony games are feeling next gen when it comes to loading screens. All games from them that I've played had small loadings. Hopefully third parties take their time to optimize their games better...

I think Nintendo does better

Much better in fact. Zelda is a beautiful example of how to do loading times.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

This is more or less why I find myself wanting to use SSD's more over HDD's due to the long loading times, once I tried an SSD for both my OS and some select games I just couldn't go back. For games that hardly have long loading times, they remain on my HDD but those with known long loading times are put straight onto my SSD.

Also I thought this gen was going to cut down a lot on loading times let alone having zones of areas that didn't have loading screens, sure we got some slight improvements but nothing major across the board.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yeah, Just Cause 3 is ridiculous with it's loading times. 30 seconds each time you want to replay a challenge, and 1-2 minutes to start out the game.
