The PES series has sold around 30 mio. copies for a good reason: It‘s one of the best and most accurate sports simulation ever created. For the fans every match is pure suspense.

ohh, kinda missed that part..
well then sorry @ DKII, radioioRobert and macross
@ rock_on_2008 )
well, it certainly is something different, if you play a game, then watch it on TV - playing it should be fun for haters of (non-american) football
Yea, I would really prefer not to get the Wii version.
I might rent PES 2008 and if I don't like it, screw both games.
Aj_habfan, I have both thee XBOX 360 and Wii versions of PES 2008 and I know the PS3 version is only superior to XBOX 360 version due to comfort of controller (in my opinion, anyway. Nothing from a game play perspective takes one game over thee other).
Nobody in my house wants to touch thee XBOX 360 version after playing the Wii version. Shoddy graphics are a very true argument, but no game has been such a deep change in mechanics, from a game play prespective, than PES 2008 for Wii. The pace is deliberately more realistic, the controls are excellent, and the tension is always there. It is an absolutely fresh look at sports games in general and I 100% recommend you not turn your head on it.
At any rate, PES > Fifa no matter which console you pick from so you are only looking at PES 2008 (PS3) vs PES 2008 (Wii).
On a side note, Master League is missing from Wii version. If that is a deal breaker for you (like I thought it would be for me), then you might want to take my gleaming recommendation with a grain of salt. But you would be doing yourself a huge favor in renting the game, at the very least.

Man u r a joke calling me a fanboy Looks like u never played the game before, older versions that is. If its the first time u played the series then shame on you. The gameplay all those years made the series what it is today, changing that and the game is ruined. Im playing the series since 1996 fyi. I never said that the graphics of the game are state of the art, and yeah maybe they suck compered with fifa, but PS3/xbox graphics are better than the wii in this game and in all multiformat games. Do i say anything wrong here? Ask urself who is the fanboy here |
He doesn't need to. Look at his sig. Also, he enters a thread where the guy is asking what PS3 game he should buy (FIFA or PES), and this guy tells him to buy a 360 to play the game. God that's funny. Yea, he is not even sure if he wants a soccer/football game, but this guy thinks the best advice is to spend $350 on a system to play it.
Then he calls you a fanboy... classic...
To the OP, I would rent the one for the Wii first, and see if you fall in love with the control scheme. If you don't, then go with PES08 on the PS3.
if you turn your head on the wii version it's only you thats going to miss out - take a look at the ign reviews, rent it then decide for yourself as with full drag and drop control over every player, free online play and not hearing a single player yet to say "i've played Wii pes and didn't enjoy it" it would be interesting to see if you're the first.
The Wii version is 40 bucks, and is incredibly fun. I have NEVER been into soccer games before, but I cannot put it down. It absolutely schools the last gen controls of the "next-gen" consoles.
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
@selnor
I have not played the Other PES games seeing that PES:Wii is the first one I have played, however, I have played a few FIFA games and the Wii version of PES is much more realistic that FIFA(the one I played, 99', 2002', and 2008.

I rented PES 2008 for PS3, it took me quite a while to get used to, but I actually really like it. I played against my brother and it was good fun. I haven't even tried online yet.
I'll probaly end up buying it.
