1. That has nothing to do with a ps3 that can use a hdmi this thread is about ps3 emulation 2. The ps3 is still made and sold to consumers, same as the games so if you buy them the devs who made them get a benifit from it 3. They won't get that from emulation 4. People happily posting and making threads about emulation for devices that are still made is digusting (I do the same with anime but I don't brag about it like: "juhu a torrent for this anime yeah don't have to spend a cent on it^^ wow a torrent for this anime also great :)") |
My answer applies to every console from the beggining of gaming to the end of times, it's a more general idea of why emulators are important. And it takes years and years of hard work to get them running in a good condition. Darwin there made some excelent points I was also going to bring up in response to your argument so I'll take it from a slightly different angle.
As time goes by there will be more and more consoles becoming legacy and there's no way you can have them all hanging around unless you can afford a gigantic mancave. some of us live in big cities where appartment space is an expensive commodity, too expensive to justify having every single console under the sun connected to a tv (hdmi or component & RGB).
PC and emulation is the only guarantee I'll be able to show my (perhaps) future kids what daddy was playing when he was their age and let them give it a try too. Most importantly the games will be preserved in digital format, unlike what happened to the early movies in the beggining of cinema.
Piracy is a non-topic regarding this. You can very well play a pirated copy of whatever game you want on a CFW ps3.
