Forums - General - A good friend of mine and a compassionate, generous, nice guy from the gaming community has passed on.

My friend Josh Jones from here in Texas died at age 34 today.

I know he wasn't known like the Pewdiepies or mega personalities of the gaming world, but to those he touched and those who knew him, he was always someone willing to give more of his time, a kind word, a patient ear to anyone at any time. Even though he had his own health problems, he wasn't one to complain, he just kept going, day after day, until today.

Respect to Josh, and prayers to his family and children.

There's a link on that article for a fundraiser if you're so inclined and able. It's not the reason why I posted it here, I just wanted to share a few words about my friend and to say how much he meant to me and those who knew him.

I love the nice people in the gaming community. All the annoying hotheaded people annoy me all the time when I play online. However, those players that just want to have fun are the best part in the gaming community.

Instead of feeling sad though, it'd be better to recognize the life he had. It's what a guy like him would probably want.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

My sincere condolences. Losing a friend leaves a big empty spot in your world. He sounds like a wonderful person.

A few years ago, I lost the person I used to play MMOs with, who eventually become my best friend. It's a very hard thing to deal with.

Thanks guys. Yeah he was a fun guy. He was super proud of being a great cook and making tasty stuff for guests. He just had a good energy about him that was hard to describe. He wasn't a complainer. I knew he had some kind of heart problem, but he didn't let it stop him from being a positive presence wherever he went.

I remember meeting him for the first time in Austin at an event with Walter Day. He was focused on making everyone else happy, introducing people, and that kindness he had was very catchy and radiant.

I am sorry to hear about this loss. It is always painful to hear of losing someone who was close to you, a friend, a family member. It's unfortunate he had to go. It sounds like he was really great.
