Forums - Gaming - PSVR launch important for Nintendo and Microsoft gamers.

It should do fine. They followed the Microsoft roadmap, didn't they?

So... you never actually tried it. OK.

Not PSVR specifically, but I did try VR with a smartphone device at a store once. I may have tried Oculus once at TGS, but I don't quite remember. I think it was a video showing a girl dancing? I don't remember ; )

The funny thing about this whole VR thing is that the only people I see down playing it are people who haven't used it. Every person I've heard talk about it and use it can't praise it enough. I remember listenign to one guy who just tried the latest version of OR and he said it was down right scary what they were able to do. I've just heard peope raving about it way to much to think it's going to be anything other than amazing.

I guess I'm in the minority, haha. I may not like it, but that's just me personally, I don't speak for everyone when I make my statements. I just say how I feel about the product. People are free to disagree with me as well.

From what I've heard, both Oculus and PSVR are far ahead of all "Google Cardboard"-type solutions using smartphones when it comes to immersion and how impressive it is.

So "I may have tried..." doesn't sound very convincing to me, as you would have rather remembered trying an Oculus Rift than trying some smartphones-based solution. I just don't believe that someone wouldn't even remember actually trying an Oculus Rift.

I do have to give props to Sony for pursuing VR. It is new technology with potential to bring new ways not just to play, but to experience new worlds, and other various usages. Microsoft is already following behind, and Ninten may jump in as well, when they find a unique and interesting way to enjoy VR.

However, in its current form, I am not so interested in it myself. It looks awkward and rather unenjoyable. I don't agree that this will immerse me into this virtual world. The need for a controller in my hand wouldn't pull me in, but take me out of it, as I am playing a game in a fake world with a TV screen, but all around me. Also, being unable to move in this world free, would also break that immersion. I probably wouldn't really enjoy it myself. I can immerse myself into a game without this form of VR.

This could become mainstream. Only time will tell, but personally, I wouldn't be interested in it.

Of course, if something is really popular, then other companies may jump aboard.. Technology is always like this and has been seen over and over again, so it's not really surprising

I personally don't think that VR will be popular any time soon though :/

Yeah, that is likely true. PSVR is likely a lot better than using a smartphone. I couldn't get a chance to try Sony's VR at TGS.

You're also free to believe me or not. I just made my feelings known on the matter on VR.

I completely despise VR, so these are not great or big news for me. I sincerely hope it fails, I don't want to see a gaming world based on VR. Imagine the scene of people playing games in their homes, with other friends, with VR helmets. That's just ridiculous. I always thought videogames are a nice social entertainment, I'm not entirely sure VR could help with that. Well, that's just my opinion.

First.. your opinion is your own.. peace.. :)  but you may not see the full picture..

There are ways to come totally in.. in person.. I know one that had tried most of the sets.. and was ok.. that could be some..

But when he tried one that has a cam pointing out that make his hands appear in VR too.. he was blown away.. totally.. its like you are there.. for real.. that means that  "social entertainment" will actully be taken to the next level.. you can be in the living room with people on the other side of world.. or friends that are at there own homes.

(a VR "play on tv with friends" app should be one of the first to arrive.. it may not be super graphic first year.. or have the posibility to use your own face/body.. but VR is insane "social" becourse it has the ability to get people in same room.. even if they not are)

So many companies jumping on the VR bandwagon...hope it is not a disaster.
