At the way it is going........yes which imo is amazing.

Squareenix
Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy VII Remake
World of Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy Explorers
Final Fantasy Dissidia Reboot
Kingdom Hearts 2.8
Kingdom Hearts III
Star Ocean 5
Dragon Quest VII
Dragon Quest VIII
Dragon Quest XI
Dragon Quest Heroes II
Dragon Quest Builders
Project Setsuna
Bravely Second
NieR: Automata
Rise of the Tomb Raider (PC/PS4)
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Hitman

^ Its very tough to beat a line up like this - full of All star franchises. Never would expect to see so many, missing a few good ones such as Mana and Valkyrie Profile but still dayum sons!

Nintendo
The Legend of Zelda for the WiiU
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD
Hyrule Warriors Legend
Fire Emblem Fates
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
Metroid Prime Federation Force
Mario & Luigi Paper Jam
Pokken Tournament
Star Fox Zero
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow Port

Nintendo's list is pretty good aside from Metroid but SE having big blockbuster names like Final Fantasy XV, FF7 remake, Kingdom Hearts III and all the other goodness makes the Nintendo list a bit weak but thats mainly cause Nintendo is missing a lot of heavy weights which have been released already such as Mario Kart, Super Mario, Smash bros, Donkey Kong, etc.

Updated list.

Forgot to add/mention Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII on 3DS.

Never thought I would see 4 (5 technically cause the 3DS ver is different) games being currently in development l0l.

There's also the second season of Life is Strange for Square Enix.

Yes, but i'm a huge RPG fan and SE is my favorite game company so I'm no where near unbiased.

no

downplaying SE despite the fact that Nintendo is currently having massive issues delivering high end games ...

Are they? If so, how has Square-Enix been delivering? Nintendo delivered Splatoon(84), Mario Maker(88), Xenoblade Chronicles X(85), and Yoshi's Wooly World(78) in 2015 as "high-end games". Square-Enix delivered Just Cause 3 (74), Rise of the Tomb Raider (86), Dragon Quest Heroes(77), and a bunch of remasters/ports in 2015.

Sure they have a few big games releasing next year, but so does Nintendo. And we really don't know what of which they are working on is releasing next year and what is releasing 2017. Meanwhile, Nintendo has concrete release dates for many of the releases in the first half of the year.

Does Final Fantasy Type-0 HD not count or even Bravely Second (in Japan) too ?

I do expect some unannounced titles from Nintendo to hit at the end of next year but do you really think it will match with SE's peak since their former 6th gen days ?

I mean look at this ...

Hitman

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Final Fantasy XV

Dragon Quest XI

Star Ocean V

Dragon Quest Heroes II

Maybe even Nier: Automata if it turns out to good of course ?

That's AT LEAST 6 full fledged AAA games were talking about here with good previews ...

That's 2 years at the most. It took 2.5 years for Twilight Princess to be released after the first reveal, and Zelda Wii U is looking to match that same timeframe. And Star Fox will be released 2 months short of two years after its initial reveal.
And that's if we go by reveals rather than announcements. Twilight Princess was actually announced around a year before the E3 reveal, under the working title Wind Waker 2, and Zelda Wii U was announced over a year before the E3 reveal, in January 2013. So that makes the development time for Twilight Princess and Zelda Wii U 3.5 years and 4 years, respectively, if it does indeed get released in November 2016.

You're acting like Nintendo never had long development cycles, but they have. Not as long as Final Fantasy XV, but that's not the norm for Square either.

Regarding how many games Nintendo can announce and release within two years, I have no doubt that they could release quite a few quality games. And they have done so for the Wii U so far. But this topic is about upcoming releases only. And on that front Square has a rather impressive list. And I'm not expecting to see any new quality announcements from Nintendo for anything but NX from here on out. And that could take a while since NX hasn't been revealed yet.

I never said Nintendo doesn't have long development cycles for some games.

Well, you actually did.
"As for whether or not SE has a better lineup, one must remember that SE announces games that won't release for many years. Nintendo doesn't."

I didn't point that out the first time because I assumed you meant for most games, but when you continue saying things like "2017 (2 years) is a long time", I have to point out that this applies to Nintendo as well some times, as with Square. It's not the norm for SE to go through unusually long development cycles. But in the case of the two recent games that did, FF XV and KH3, at least they're pretty far along now. Though Nintendo are certainly faster on average. But that's understandable since Square tend to focus more on detailed graphics, while Nintendo go for simple textures.

Development cycles =|= release after announcement/reveal. Two years from announcement is a maximum for Nintendo, and a minimum for Square-Enix's in-house stuff. Nintendo has had the policy since the Wii era to not show or announce most of their games until the year they release them. They don't always meet that due to delays of course, but that tends to be the goal. Conversely SE announces a game as soon as they start on it and shows progress even if the game is years away. It is hard to say that Versus and KH3 aren't typical of SE, because SE hasn't done much of anything besides FFXIII, which the first game also had a long release schedule. It was originally suppose to be a PS3 launch game, but instead released in 2009. Agito was in the same boat. Eidos is relatively quick with development after an announcement though.

Type 0 is a port of a PSP game. Would you like to include handheld games? I think that would be in Nintendo's favor with Fire Emblem fates, Triforce Heroes, and Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon.

Nintendo is releasing Zelda U, Star Fox, Revelations # F.E and probably a launch title or two for the NX. They are also publishing handheld games, if we are to include them. Star Ocean could be a miss, like the last game btw. Star Fox hasn't had a main game since the GameCube era, and Zelda U is in the same boat as Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest. So they are highly anticipated. If I were to personally rank the games in terms of my interest it would be Zelda U > Dragon Quest XI > Final Fantasy XV > Revelations # F.E > Deus Ex > Star Fox > Star Ocean 5 (if it is good) with the rest in the bargain bin, if at all.

I would argue Type-0 as a graphical reimage ...

Revelations # F.E. is releasing this year in Japan just after Christmas and Star Fox Zero looks like it has some of the lowest production values and the last high end entry (Star Fox: Assault) wasn't too thrilling either ...
