That's a lot of milked rpgs. That's their what, 20th Dragon Quest game since 2015? I know Nintendo is milking Zelda, but Dragon Quest is a whole new level of milk. Romani Ranch Milk.

Two Pokémon rip-offs as well. A Minecraft rip-off. And who on earth calls their game 2.8 and expects to be taken serious? I know Nintendo comes up with some bad names, but this takes the cake. And really, most of these games are looking as exciting as Metroid Prime Federation Force (on that particular list).

0/10.

I think that's just the problem. Nintendo isn't just a AAA churning machine. Their biggest games are basically Zelda and Mario and every other gen metroid joins that list. That's not to say they don't make many other games but those other games usually fall into the AA or even A size category.

I mean Sony has just off the top of my head; GT, Infamous, Bloodborne, the order, uncharted, the last of us,killzone, drive club, horizon, Detroit, GoW...etc that are all games with budgets well over $30M. And this isn't even mentioning all the smaller PSN stuff like journey...etc. Nintendo just just isn't that kinda company. Its just not in their DNA.

it was with N64

So basically Nintendo made more AAA console games 20+ years ago. well, guess that explains a lot.

But if you really wanna go into it, I don't think you would like to see a comparison between what Nintendo released for the N64 and what square did with the PS2. Hint..... one of the most anticipated games of all time is a remake from Square from the time of the PS1.

That's because Nintendo doesn't announce their games 10 years in advance usually. You'll be waiting a long long time before you get to play some of those games on Square's list. And they're pretty much all the same with some exceptions.

Let's wait until after E3 2016 to bump this thread again. Nintendo also has Genei Ibun Roku #FE, Fire Emblem Fates, Pokken Tournament and Pikmin 4 confirmed. Games you conveniently left out.

Games Square Enix announced in 2015 that are slated for 2016:

World of Final Fantasy
Dissidia Final Fantasy
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Dragon Quest Heroes II
Dragon Quest Builders
Project Setsuna
NieR: Automata
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Hitman

Square Enix can just as easily announce new games in 2016 coming out in 2017.

And not a single one of those games are similar to another one in the list.

Wake me when Square decides to make something that isn't an rpg.

wait a min... you are talking about "milking franchises and bad names" while defending Nintendo? NINTENDO?

Nintendo has a much more varied library of games. They make more genres than any one company (I dare you to name me one). Square is 90% rpgs. Nintendo has ten times the diversity of IPs compared to Square.

Ok. I know its a bad idea getting into this with you, but I just have to say it. You couldn't be more wrong by the bolded part of your statement.  And when you talk that way I can't help but feel you are somewhat biased.

But here goes. Sony. Nintendo does not make more genres of games than sony.  See? that wasn't that hard.

Nintendo published ~38 (I may have miscounted) games in 2015 (retail and digital), of those games 20+ are Nintendo developed. Most of their 3DS catalog is announced within a year of release, and usually is more games than the entire SE catalog up and into 2017.

This comparison is beyond stupid, and shows an obtuse lack of knowledge of what thse two studios even do or develop. The audiences they target are completely different. SE largely focuses on a similar demographic spread between its major output chains. Nintendo publishes for a wide swath of demographics from children to women to adults to core games. To say then "better" is to enforce your own tastes (obviously better catered t by SE) over the entire video game audience population.

Trying to compare them title for title is meaningless.

2017 is a long time. Nintendo can announce ten games that release before then.

That's 2 years at the most. It took 2.5 years for Twilight Princess to be released after the first reveal, and Zelda Wii U is looking to match that same timeframe. And Star Fox will be released 2 months short of two years after its initial reveal.
And that's if we go by reveals rather than announcements. Twilight Princess was actually announced around a year before the E3 reveal, under the working title Wind Waker 2, and Zelda Wii U was announced over a year before the E3 reveal, in January 2013. So that makes the development time for Twilight Princess and Zelda Wii U 3.5 years and 4 years, respectively, if it does indeed get released in November 2016.

You're acting like Nintendo never had long development cycles, but they have. Not as long as Final Fantasy XV, but that's not the norm for Square either.

Regarding how many games Nintendo can announce and release within two years, I have no doubt that they could release quite a few quality games. And they have done so for the Wii U so far. But this topic is about upcoming releases only. And on that front Square has a rather impressive list. And I'm not expecting to see any new quality announcements from Nintendo for anything but NX from here on out. And that could take a while since NX hasn't been revealed yet.

I never said Nintendo doesn't have long development cycles for some games. But the majority of the games they released this year(or are releasing next year)were/will be shown within a year of their release, and considering Nintendo is releasing a new platform next year there is a lot that they will probably be making for it that we don't know about because it would spoil the reveal of the platform.

Nintendo are saving all their big announcements for when the NX is revealed.
