Forums - General - Vote John McCain for President 2008.

I'm about 50-50 on this election.

On the on hand... Obama seems really put together and has some good ideas economics wise about building green power plant jobs that rightfully can't leave, the kinds of economic ideas that don't get thought of... and I'm for healthcare reform.

However, I'm afraid by doing this he's going to have too much give and not enough take, and screw up the economy as bad as bush.
'
Also, I think pulling out of Iraq, would be a vile move sure it would cost us personally less. But it will cost them more. We would of made things worse in Iraq in both the short term and the long term.

People see pulling out of Iraq as a change of thinking... to me it seems like the same thinking that got us into Iraq. "Screw everyone else, what's best for us happens."

Mccain on the other hand i'm not sure can handle the economy either.

If Hillary Clinton wins i'm going Mccain probably 70-30. Her heatlhcare plan is worse then nothing for the short term.

In her plan, we fight the insurance agencies by... forcing everyone to sign up for health insurance? She argues it will bring costs for insurance down. You are supposeed to get the costs of insurance down first.

What happens to people who don't get health insurance? Why they get fined every time they go to the hospital. Which makes those who can't afford health insurance already in a spot where they run up even more debt.

@Superchunk

You're right, I was a little extreme in my comment. Civil rights should definitely protect every person in our country, I however do not support homosexual marriage and I do not have to stand behind it. I'm definitely not God but I have the right to be completely against homosexuality because according to my religious beliefs it is wrong. And in all honesty, you should be happy that you're able to either like homosexuals and respect their behavior cuz in other countries they would not tolerate it at all period.

@Damkira

Seriously? If you read history yourself you would know we find most of homosexual records during the Roman times and during the great age of the Greeks. I've never said that it didn't happen in other places, but it is definitely predominately more known by its european background than by any other society.

What are you looking at, nerd?

Well, first of all to be OT, none of the candidates are any good to begin with.

First we have McCain, who doesn't even know what is going on in the war on Iraq, when he said on an TV interview that Iran was training Al-Qaeda fighters in Iran and then sending them back to Iraq (Al-Qaeda are Sunni Muslim extremists while Iran are filled with Shiite Muslims....kinda like Catholics versus Protestants when the differences between the religions actually mattered to the people). This mistake may seem just human, but if your number one difference between you and the opponents is the war in Iraq, then you better know what the hell you are talking about.

Then there is Hillary Clinton, who wants to mandate universal health care for everybody. Sounds good and all, but the major reason to begin with as to why people don't have health care isn't because they don't want it, its because they can't afford it. Fining people doesn't help encourage, just makes it worse. Plus, if she is this divisive when it comes to party-members of her OWN party, who is to say she is going to be a great leader?

Then we have Obama, who despite being an inspirational speaker, does not have enough experience to lead this country. And no, his pastor is NOT a reason to not vote for him (for that person who said the pastor runs a "Hamas-supporting" Church, you are spreading a lot of lies out of frustration when you don't really have to do any of that)....Obama is his own person and if you don't want to vote for him, at least pick a legitimate reason that is truthful, not reasons like he is "a closet-Muslim."

In the end, we all have to remember that ALL the contestants are telling us things we citizens want to hear, but not things they are ACTUALLY gonna do. In the end, it's just going to be another election where the contestant gets elected, inspires hopes as all leaders do, and then have to face the actual reality of all the bureaucracy that plagues the government, all the squabbling and nonsense, all the lobbyists that don't help anybody but the rich, etc. etc. All that matters is who you like to see and hear with your eyes and ears as the President and hope he/she is not another idiot.

I'm also deeply offended, being as a Muslim myself, about all the comments going on in this thread about "Why do Muslims attack us?"

So far I have seen answers like "They hate to see freedom" or "They hate our culture" or just simply "They like to kill."

All I have to say is: WTH?!

Do you think that these terrorists, as sinful and morally wrong as they are, are monsters? Not in the figurative sense, I mean actual living breathing monsters? Don't you think they are humans as well, who would like to be heard?

How egotistical do you have to be to believe that they hate us because of our freedom? That is like saying that you are so rich and happy because you are rich that all poor people hate you because "They hate money" and hate you so much that they are willing to kill you and themselves to see it destroyed. That is how badly the belief that "they hate freedom" sounds like.

What terrorists really hate is how the United States treats the Middle East. It is that simple and it is unbelievable how so many just do not understand. The United States carries itself has the police of the world right? The defender of justice and equality for the whole world? Then why does the United States support dictators and such? Why did the US put Saddam Hussein as the leader of Iraq in the beginning? To fight Iran after Iran insulted the US by keeping US soldiers as hostages for over a year. Why did the US support Musharraf, a Pakistani general who overthrew a democratic government and became the illegitimate President/dictator for years? Because he can help the US in getting Taliban fighters. The US only looks out for numero uno: Themselves.

Yet the US claims to look out for everybody. How does that make sense? This is the hypocrisy the terrorists claim to hate the US for so many years. The Middle East is slowly decaying away with governments who only look out for themselves, and it gets hard to get them out when the US supports them. Take for example Saudia Arabia, where the freedom of women is non-existent and good jobs are hard to come by at all but nothing can be done because the King of Saudia Arabia is supported and protected by the US due to its supply of oil.

But what about Afghanistan and Iraq, where the US has toppled terrible regimes and placed democratic governments? Don't any of you remember the US's primary reason for going there since the beginning? It's to get bin Laden, thats why. Then weapons of mass destruction. Then it was to get rid of Saddam Hussein. Finally, it was to place a democratic gov't. Yes, the good things did come. After their initial objectives were either accomplished or never existed.

But for everything the bad the US has done, the terrorists are equally as bad. Instead of forming an organization for peace, they kill innocent civilians in the hope of causing fear and destruction, just to be heard and topple governments they deem not good enough for Islam. In order to show their anger to the world, they have become un-Islamic, bad Muslims, the very people they hated and pretty much alienated all Muslims around the world, including me.

As much as the US is guilty of supporting anyone who would help them, despite whether they are dictators or not, the terrorists who are angry at the US for that reason and are acting on it are guilty just as well for their actions. Even when the US is supporting China, a communistic country with little freedoms who are treating the Tibetans just as poorly as other countries with dictators, through trade, the terrorists are killing innocent women and children and would rather commit sin and wrongdoing than voicing their objections as peaceful people do. In this world, there is no good guy. It is not as black or white as people like to think. Just shades of gray...a very dark tone of gray. Sorry for the long rant. Just had to say something.

No need for thanks, I'm just a little pessimistic when it comes to views of the world. Everybody has good intentions in this world...but there is a reason why everybody with at least 20+ years of life experience say that the world is going down the toilet: everybody's actions always will benefit their own side and hurt others along the way. That is how the world is acting so far. It would be nice though if somebody will stop bombing the other side and just think calmly and rationally to just say "Hey....why are we doing this again?" and when they answer this question, they can finally realize that nobody really has to die for on the other side for your side to keep living.

Of course, if that happened, we wouldn't be human now would we?

 Just because homosexuality is historically regarded as a trait of Roman and Greek civilizations doesn't mean were weren't extensive records of it in China (look up Han dynasty) and Persia from around the same time. Your original post seemed to regard homosexuality as some sort of negative European cultural export. Its not. Its a variant in human sexuality and exists in all cultures, whether or not it is approved of it that culture.

McCain's voting record has more crazy turns in it than Wario Colosseum.

I like Obama. Who wants to internet fight?

Oh, and StanGable, you're totally insane if you think that homosexuality doesn't exist in every single culture, city, state, religion, and most non-human species. It always has and always will. Don't worry about it. Nobody's going to force you to marry one of them.
