Forums - Gaming - Who wants Starcraft 2 on console?

Halo Wars will be an RTS game released on the XBox 360. So if that game sells well. Star Craft 2 might not be out of the question.

But how will it control?  I can see how PS3, Wii, and even DS may work with Starcraft 2 but not 360.

You can substitute the mouse for a wiimote and you'll still suck. Its all about the hot keys. Also, if you think pc games don't make as much money I suggest you look at Blizzards financials. Starcraft 2 will be huge, Its South Korean sales alone will probably single handedly make it a massive success.

Well supposing you just substitute a mouse for a wiimote and ignore the keyboard I suppose you would be right. However, anyone who knows what they are talking about are suggesting a wiimote and keyboard combo.

Well if your going to do that, you might aswell just bundle it with a keyboard and mouse. Mouse > wiimote for RTS.

You could say the exact same thing about a PS3 version. Both consoles support USB keyboards which have been the only keyboards sold for a good few years now. I am honestly interested in how the wiimote vs mouse in regards to all the previously computer dominated genres. So far I have found that it is competitive, but still slightly inferior. I think, in time, it might be possible to work a control scheme out to make it equivalent to a mouse. If anyone could do it, it would be Blizzard.

If you are going to use a keyboard, why not use a mouse.  A keyboard/wiimote combo just seems awkward.

As for me, I wouldn't buy it anywhere but on PC.

That was a really apposite remark. Though there are two pure RTS on 360 and one of them it works awesome. People who say it doesn't, they just haven't play Tiberium Wars. And until SC's release there will be out a few more. (Supreme Commander, Kane's Wrath, Universe at War) But, apparently Halo Wars will truly show what Blizzard will do. And I' m referring only to 360 version. I guess they wouldn't even bother about PS3. More and more traditional PC evelopers dumb this console.

Oh I'm sure blizzard could do it. I think its more a question of priorities. Atm Blizzards seems extremely focused on pc, at the expense of consoles. I don't blame them as they're doing mightily well out of it. And yes I think the wiimote would be extremely interesting for an RTS, but it'd have to be an RTS that doesn't rely on hotkeys. It could work extremely well though.

I see Starcraft 2 on consoles as being an excellent idea. It would save me having to buy an expensive computer.

It's not like Blizzard would ever gimp the PC version to do it either. Starcraft is too important, they'd make a brilliant PC game then port it to the 360 and maybe the PS3.

No! Why would you want to butcher this game!?

So your saying that even if the console version came after the PC one and had NO effect on the PC version, you still wouldnt want to see another great game on the PS360?

PS3 version of Star Craft 2 would be the best.
