Gen 7 was long and was really amazing especially with hardware sales for both handhelds and consoles

Nintendo, Sony AND Microsoft, would need to make big changes to the "idea" of a video game console.

Maybe in 20 years we'll see consoles that change the way we look at game systems, kinda like the Wii, but probably way different.

Indeed, console gaming is definitely starting to feel more pressure than before, especially as younger people grow up on mobile and will probably not move into console gaming as easily

Sure, but when would that be?

My guess would be around 2019.
I think this gen will be long... and we ll see some nice shrinks, from 28nm --> 14nm or whatever.

Hopefully prices of the PS4 & Xbox One, end up dirt cheap by the end of it, and market size grows.

JRPG fan are you implying that NX won't be a 9th gen console then...

No matter the specs, wii u/3ds were 8th gen consoles, they replaced their predecessors wii/ds which were introduced in the 7thgen, so their successor/s will be a 9th gen console/s! :P
