Well, they are going to have to do something to compete with the 360 price cut. The dillemma facing Sony is that with more frequent price cuts, you train the consumer to expect another price cut in a matter of months.
Therefore, less frequent price cuts are in order. But, Sony has came out w/ this manufacturing breakthrough w/ BD players where they can now use smaller lasers and actually put less junk in the BD player's trunk by just making it smaller. In my opinion this should probably be extended to the PS3 when Sony starts to put out these streamlined BD players by the end of 2008. Since the results of what I think will be a cheaper manufacturing process and the move to 45nm by the 4th quarter I think that they will try to combine the effect from both and just have one price cut even if it is before both happen.
My best guess is that Sony will drop $50 realistically and $75 if they wante to go hog wild around Sept of this year.
