Forums - Gaming - Why does Nintendo not license music for their commercials?

To answer your question. Nintendo doesn't need to use licensed music on their ads, because the original themes composed for their games have much more appeal than any pop/rock song.

but a "these colours dont run" cover would have been too great to promote splatoon to older people...

Because Nintendo's marketing team needs work.... a lot of work

most developers use songs for trailers. Heck even activision just straight up has top people make songs for its trailers and games.

Nintendo marketing is in a midset that licensed material is forbidden, but it would be nice to hear a known song through trailers for xenoblade or the like. Obviously not for all Nintendo games, but for the ones that are epic in nature, it would be nice to have an epic song to better convey the feeling

Do you mean the Iron Maiden song? That would be bizarre.

is there any other song with that name?

and yes, but its a shooter with squids, shouldnt it be bizarre?

Because unlike other companies, Nintendo actually has a decent soundtrack for their games. :)

It depends on whether it makes sense or not. I can't think of a whole lot of songs that would be recognizable and appropriate for something like Splatoon. Like Octupus Garden maybe?

That song gets in the OP gets over played a lot imo. Almost as much as Eye of the Tiger.

But a new Punch Out trailer with the Eye of the Tiger in the background would be pretty awesome so I guess you have a point lol

But then again, the music in the smash trailer for Little Mac was really good too.
