Forums - Microsoft - Is Microsoft missing the point with Holiday bundles?

They need to work with 1st parties because all 3rd wants marketing deal or bundles with PS4.

Theres a reason for that:

http://ps4daily.com/2015/09/metal-gear-solid-5-ps4-sales/

console wise:

"According to GFK Chart-Track, a UK company who tracks game sales data, an impressive 72% of all MGS 5 copies were sold on the PS4. The Xbox One on the other hand, got just 22%. The remaining few percent were split between the PS3 and Xbox 360: PS3 got a 3% share, while the 360 got a 2% share."

Most games just sell better on it, probably do to market share (13m vs 25m).

Around the Network

What I would do is add rare replay to the Lego bundle and halo master chief collection to the gears bundle while keeping the price at $350. That way you've got a very nice family friendly bundle with the Lego/rare games and a more mature bundle with the halo/gears which I think would shift a lot more units than any of the other Ms Bundles.

Microsoft's top priority has always been Holiday, that's all they've cared about since this gen.

1. Home console market is crowded.

2. Whatever Microsofts goal was in past they have changed strategy. So do Sony. Making profits is now top priority.

All companies know better make profit rather than making loss or negligible profit. Microsoft dont want to devalue in the holiday their console like they did in 2014.

1. I'm not even sure what you're trying to say with that, how is it crowded? There are 3 consoles and it's been that way for quite  a while. There are also fewer AAA compared to previous gens also.

2. Well, it's like you haven't read my comment, Microsoft's goal this gen has been trying to win the holiday, seriously, how have you not noticed that yet? You think making a profit isn't a basic priority for all companies and divisions?

Also, I don't think you read my thread post either. If they make a $350 500GB with a recent game like Fallout/Halo 5/Tomb Raider, how is it any different from what they've been doing since last holiday? So they wouldn't actually be devaluing their console.

This notion of "parents" picking consoles is... absurd. I'm sure it happens, rarely. But parents don't just buy little Johnny what they want. They buy what HE wants. They're not going to get an Xbox One for a kid who wants PS4 and visa versa because as soon as he opens it, he's going to freak the hell out.

Have you ever been to a store during black friday? It's literally filled with parents. I remember last year at my local Best Buy during Black Friday and Gamespot that it was parents that were buying consoles. While at the Gamespot it was just non parents buying just games. A huge point of black friday is to buy Christmas gifts.

Well, Parents usually buy what their kids want. If their kids can't stop talking about how cool the X1 is, their parents aren't going to get them a Wii U, because it's cheaper.

Yes they are but sacrificing profits from their software sales isn't the best idea either ...
