Forums - Sony - Japanese MGS4 pricing revealed (all 3 versions)

Also, this bundle is not even a good value at all. Japanese bundles don't tend to have good value in general.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Well Dragon Quest 8 was 8800 yen when it was released in Japan. I guess Konami thinks that MGS4 is as popular and will sell as much as DQ8 did, right....................hahahaha

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

oooh.. steel color.

But the game.. Damn... I'm shocked. I wonder how much that'll be sold in NA.

well i don't think they will charge more than $60 in NA, i mean square charges 6000 yen for some of their DS games, and then sell them for $30-40 in the US. I think this is the kind of thing that stays in Japan.

Wow this is one expensive game... i find it difficult to believe that it will go for $60 at launch in the US if what johnsobas said about a normal games in Japan costing 6800-7800 yen which would be around 60-70 dollars pre deprecation of the USD. I wont be surprised if this game retail for around 90+ dollars.

That is a damn fine colour, and in fact looks better than the black (I thought the white PS3 was ugly and the silver is boring by the way)

Due to the obsessiveness of Japan's MGS4 fanbase and their general enthusiasm for new colours that bundle will sell well.

I think given the expense of the PS3, it is safe to assume that 99.9% of the fanbase is hardcore.

Konami have simply concluded that for a game like MGS4, the hardcore will pay what they have too, and as the system has no casuals, they don't have to worry about it until the userbase expands and then they'll drop the price.

Konami is screwing gamers, but it makes good business sense.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

That's a lot of money, but remember that Japanese retail games are built with much more price flexability than American retail games. Their DS and PSP games get nearly up to the same price as their retail PS3 games, and their retail PS3, Wii, and 360 games vary in price depending on how popular it is.

So yes, it's expensive, but it shouldn't be marked up in the US... hopefully.

Well, amazon in the US currently has it for $59.99 for preorders, so I guess the price will be in line with other new releases...
