How does it go for you?

Are you among those who like to be the first ones at owning a console, start experiencing next gen ASAP, serving as beta testers, cutting short a possible backlog of game as fast as possible, trusting your company/companies of choice are going to deliver anyway...

or...

do you wait for consoles to have a certain amount of games that interest you before deciding to buy the thing? Like, how many games if you can come up with a number?

Depends on the console, if I have faith in the company and if they've already announced some games I'm interested in, by far I've never purchased a console on day1 but NX might do the trick if they have some good launch title

I never bought a console on Day 1 due to the madness of launch night but I got a Wii U pretty close to launch. I do wish I waited a couple more months though, I didn't really too much on it until games I was interested in came out. So probably next generation I will wait until there are 4 or 5 must buys until I get the console.

Close to launch but never day one. First year

The only title that makes me buy hardware is Pokemon. I usually get the console one or two months prior to its release.

I like to waste money it seems, Buy a PS4 day one play Killzone Shadowfall for a few week and leave it on the shelf for 15 months until software arrives. Should really wait as first 12-18 months are usually pure crap for games on new consoles.

Usually I wait, only exceptions have been GBA, PS2, and PS4. It is exciting, but generally take a year to have few games I really want

I wait until there are a few games out that I want.

Nintendo day 1, and wait for the others to hit around $250.
