Also Id like to add, if it is any kind of decent MMO it will NEVER be free, so all the Sony's that are "online" will still be paying an extra service fee to get into this game.

No console MMO this generation will beat wow will beat it in sales at lest not monthly paying.

Anywho, this sadly is a very slanted thread.  Many people may not recognize who SOE is or remember that they were responsible for the Everquest franchise which was very large during its hayday and probably the single largest factor in moving MMOs into mainstream entertainment and away from MUDs.  It's quite possible that had SOE not enjoyed such success with Everquest that there might not even be a World of Warcraft today; in fact, Blizzard may have went on to make Starcraft/Warcraft 4 and Diablo 3 instead.  Actually now that I think about it... screw you Everquest; I'd rather have had Diablo 3.

Otherwise their track record isn't really that good... Still, I think it would be foolish to underestimate them at this point.  To everyone saying that there's no chance of making a bigger game than World of Warcraft, I can only remember a time when IBM said that no one would ever need a computer in their house.

As to SWG when they 'overhauled' the game a year or 2 ago they complety alienated many of the userbase. Planetside was a joke...

SOE was not responsible for Everquest that was Verant. They bought EQ after Velious is my memory serves me correct. I believe they slowly killed eq over time. Soe created EQ2 which I tried hard to get into it just.. wasn't that good of a game imo. Then there is Vanguard. Well the people who had created Verant went on to produce Vanguard and soe bought them out agian. They released Vanguard way too soon, buggy and imo not even finished. And Verant was owned by which company before Velious? Oh thats right, SOE. Do you know how many people were fired after the take over? Zero. The reason EQ went downhill is because the game sucked, but was the best game on the market for that type of experience. The massive issues with Vanguard are proof of that. The guys who made EQ were a bunch of idiots who put out a product at the perfect time and are now viewed to be some kind of geniuses. Their ideas were terrible, and now look even worse by comparison.
