Japan, but I do still enjoy Western games.

I voted the Japanese games because I could live without Western games, but without Japanese games gaming wouldn't be half as exciting.

It's hard to choose, i would guess japanese ones, mainly because of ff. But it's hard to imagine gaming without both.

In the past it would've been Japanese games but today it is Western games ...

I prefer the characters in Japanese games to the Western games because their less bland, more memorable and more original than the protagonist that you see in the latter ...

I also prefer the soundtracks in the Japanese games too because they don't try to imitate the movie industry and they have a lot more emotion to them ...

The gameplay mechanics in Western games are much more pleasing and that even includes RPGs too ...

The story is usually more realistic in Western games too so at least you can be more immersed when you seriously participate in it and often times there's more options too for bells and whistles ...

Western games have better level designs and graphics which makes it much more pleasing from a visual and functionality perspective ...

In a lot of ways Western games beat Japanese games where it matters most ...

What's more is that only one of the big 3rd Japanese publishers have returned to their former glory whereas most of them have turned vile and sour for the most part so Western games will continue to be better in the forseeable future ...

Western games are much better quality when it comes to the top games.Japan has nothing like Uncharted,TLoU,Until Dawn,Drive Club,Batman or GOW.

This is beyond hard to answer, i do both enjoy Western games & Japanese games honestly.

I can't live like that, if i preferred Japanese games over Western games or opposite.

I feel like Japanese games get such an easy pass on this website (online overall as well). So many of them stick to their cliche characters, and mediocre looking aesthetics. Some are content with churning the same entry out year in and out (not to say Western doesn't do this), but Japanese games IMO get the pass for it.

This is also based on observation, but I feel Japanese fans have lower standards and are more willing to accept the game for whatever it is. Outside of FF and Metal Gear how many recent Japanese games have even attempted to push their respective hardware? I'm not saying they all need to look like FF, but with some of these entries they barely look marginally better. And I do understand budgets of Western vs. Japanese studios.

Japanese have that charm I do like, but Western games IMO are better overall in looks, story, and overall evolution over the years.

Historicaly I prefered japanese games by a mile. But Last gen took me by surprise and one console in particular opened my eyes to western games.

Imo japanese games lack character customization, realistic stories that are not taken out of the latest over the top manga and online is deficient too.

I won't brush off a game because it comes from Japan, if it's good it's good heck I bought like 8 schmup on 360 but seriously Japan took some weird turn imo.

My favorites game is Xenogears, Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Star Ocean, Tales Series, Tekken, Street Fighters, GranTurismo, Dynasty Warriors, Sengoku Basara etc.

Its not black or white for me.

But i dont like the extremes on both sides, the Japanese side with its weird ass games like the dating simulators and the like; and the Typical Macho Man Dude Bro game from the Western side.

I like somewhere in between.
