Star Ocean 2 does EVERYTHING that SO1 does but 10x better. SO2 takes place alittle over 2 decades after 1 but the plots are separate so you play 2 without even knowing SO1 existed.

Game looks way better than I thought it would.

Looks pretty good and interesting. Not graphically impressive but a well executed art direction with just a few animations that need polishing.

You can get 'Til The End of Time for cheap on eBay and Amazon. New greatest hits copies are about $21ish.

I haven't played 1/2/3 (but I will, getting a PSP to play the first two), but 4 is a prequel to all the series, it was an amazing game.

The PS3 version has additional content, including different artwork for the menus and dialog. Plus different languages beside English. I enjoyed it a lot, it was a blast to play.

Last year I bought SO4 from a friend (never played any SO before too) and I had a blast with the gameplay, It's really unique and fun... just ignore the boring story and some annoying characters (Lymle I'm looking at you)

Star Ocean 1 is on Super Famicom.  The PSP version is a complete remake to Star Ocean The Second Story style of graphics and a closer resemblance of gameplay.  Great series that started going downhill starting with the third.
