Darwinianevolution said: Will this one be an exclusive? It seems like a bad idea. I mean, King of Fighters isn't really a big franchise (at least compared with the other fighting game PS4 exclusive, Street Fighter V), so wouldn't it made more sense to go after the XBone crowd too now that they won't be able to play Street Fighter? I would say go for the WiiU crowd too, but they have Smash, and the NX still seems too far away. |
The niche Bloodborne sold over 2 million in few months... exclusive is the way to go now (at least for Japanese devs).

But BloodBorne came during a time where the PS4 still didn't have a really strong library, it was marketed as THE exclusive of the year and it had a developer know for arguably the most iconic series on the "as-hard-as-possible" genre. King of Fighters will come out surrounded by exclusives more popular than it, on a library crowded with heavy-hitters, competing directly with the most popular game of the genre (also an exclusive). It's not the same. KOF would have benefited from being on the XBone too, specially now that Killer Instint is two years old now.

Pretty sure BB did well because it's one of the best looking games of this gen so far.
Yeah it's still early, but there are a lot of FROM fans, and the game really isn't "that hard". At least, nowehere near demon's souls.
It's also doubtful that KoF would see much on xb1, being that KoF is primarily a Japanese franchise, and xb1 has sold 60k in Japan lifetime.
