Amazon UK is to close its trade-in programme later this month, the company has announced.

The service's termination means that Amazon will no longer accept games, accessories or books as trade-ins after August 31, and that all trade-in submissions must be dispatched to the retailer within 7 days of its end date.

Amazon will continue to allow items to be traded-in as normal up to and including August 31.

Amazon's trade-in programme allows customers to submit pre-owned console games for credit towards other purchases, similar to services offered by high street retail chains GAME and CEX.

The company will continue to allow customers to sell their items on Amazon Marketplace following the trade-in programme's closure.
