Yea, they would've said the same about motion control. Putting the emphasis on "unexpected success".
And i will buy one. To have the freedom not to care about the price tag plays a role. If it's going to be a technical catastrophe, like the Virtual Boy, i'll reconsider. I doubt it considering the overall positive reactions.
Regarding pricing. Sony, in contrast to most other VR contender, can lower the price of the hardware early, break even or below, or subsidize it from the very start (bundle) and still thrive on sold software. TBH, I also doubt they're going to subsidize it. Development cost certainly weren't cheap.
