They could easily take both console and mobile, they just need to be conservative with their gaming budgets.

They could, but why would a business whose goal is to make money, risk lesser profits on larger games when they can roll in the dough with mobile games?
I certainly hope they do make larger games again down the track but I highly doubt it.

I'm sure it was contributive to their recent decisions. They probably already knew how successful they were being for a while now.

Same reason as Square Enix is doing. Higher margins of profit through console games. They still have IPs that could sell on consoles.And mobile gamers are pickle. One day you are Supercell, the next day you are Roxio.
Good for them, now they'll totally alienate their core fanbase in favor of the ever changing casual crowd. T_T

Well those employees are probably happy campers being tortured to do their jobs and get paid because Konami is profiting.
