That's great news. I find the PSTV to be very underrated. The only downfall is it can't play all Vita games and no Netflix, but other than that it's still a fantastic little device. Free is free =)

Well i prefer PS Vita it self rather then PS Vita TV lol, but as long as it free no one will complain.

Well, this will def sell the console, not that the console doesn't sell already. : P This is an pretty nice thing for Sony to do.

I bought a PS4 too early and I've barely used it :(
I wonder if they're going to be bringing these deals to America. They already have the European market on lockdown, so I feel like it would be smarter to bring these deals to America so they can try to dominate there as well, but oh well.

Yes it is a Vita, and is called Vita TV in Japan, but not without some drawbacks. Namely no front/back touchscreen for games that don't function without it. It still takes the same game cartridges and memory cards. Also while this might be true for the standard Vita, it doesn't have Netflix and Youtube dropped its app support. Which blows my mind. DId the Vita lose Netflix too? Anyway, the browser is still an option. PS TV is good for playing PS1 and Vita games, or PS3 through PS NOW, with a PS3 or PS4 controller, then there i also the remote play from PS4 so you can have a PS TV set up at another TV than your PS4 and still be able to play with multiple controllers too. It even displays on both screens when done. |
Thanks for explaining. Unfortunate that not all Vita games are compatible, I thought maybe the ps4 touchpad would resolve the back touchscreen issue for some games . Remote play does sound very usefull if say want to play games both in your livingroom and bedroom. Indeed weird that it doesn't have Netflix, it'd be so usefull!
Also, it would be amazing if it was able to display a different image to both tv's when playing splitscreen (like some games do on Wii U gamepad and TV, each player their 'own' full screen so you can't cheat) but I take it it can't? Suppose that would be overcomplicated.
