PHIL HARRISON:
We have no plans to do so in the standard controller that ships with PlayStation 3. I believe that the Sixaxis controller offers game designers and developers far more opportunity for future innovation than rumble ever did. Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is. And we don't see the need to do that. Having said that, there will be specific game function controllers, potentially like steering wheels that do include vibration or feedback function—not from us but from third parties.

NO PLANS. WE DON'T SEE THE NEED TO DO THAT. NOT FROM US.

The slashed-tires analogy guy is LYING because he says "I am not coming" when he actually is at that very moment executing a plan to allow him to come. He could have said "I don't know if I'll make it, I have a problem I'm dealing with" or even just "I'm not sure" but he said "NO." No is just as much a lie as Yes in that case, if not more so. How can you not see that?

Sony could have said "we're working on rumble". Instead, Sony lied and said "No, we have no plans for rumble" while they were in the middle of negotiations with a company to make rumble. It's possible that it would have been a bad move to say that rumble was in progress, since people might have decided to wait to buy a PS3 until rumble came out; it's possible that lying was better for business but they did lie.

Breakdown: NO PLANS. Meaning no plans, we don't have them, not currently. That's not saying it won't happen in the future. WE DON'T SEE A NEED TO DO THAT. Meaning they don't see it as a life or death need. It could still be considered, but not something top priority. Now if they said "We don't see why we need to do that", it would be a different story. Lots of different reasons, consumers want it=more sales for Sony. Though I guess that can be interpruted in a few different ways. NOT FROM US. They were stating what they knew, third parties could create force-feedback controllers. They could back that up, not them being able to include rumble.

The guy is executing a plan, he doesn't know if it will work. I've already aknowledged that saying No is a lie also. But the lie isn't as bad as saying yes. Making claims you can't back up will get a lot of people angry. Plus they just said "No plans", not "NO!" A small change can make a big difference. There is not only the possibility of people waiting on the rumble, but the fact the plans for a settlement go all wrong. If they the settlement were to go wrong and they said "We're working on rumble" before, can you imagine how many people would be angry about this?

If they were to say "We're working on rumble" and then it all go wrong, people would find some reason to be mad at them then too.

Breakdown:  If a large corporation is doing something, they have a plan for it.  If you have worked for a large corporation or governmental organization you know this is true.  The quality of the plan may be questionable, but there is a plan.  It's in the nature of any bureaucracy, and all large organizations have bureaucracies.

Breakdown #2:  "The guy is executing a plan, he doesn't know if it will work."  Therefore "I have no plans" is a lie.

Breakdown #3:  "I've already aknowledged that saying No is a lie also."  Please point out to me where you have said this prior to now.

Look, that Harrison quote UNEQUIVOCALLY states that Sony will NOT put rumble technology in first-party stuff.  To say otherwise involves twists of logic that I cannot imagine performing, and it's quite painful to even witness another doing it.  Please stop.  "WE DON'T SEE A NEED TO DO THAT. Meaning they don't see it as a life or death need. It could still be considered, but not something top priority."  And they somehow discovered that it WAS a "life or death need" and inked an agreement with the company they'd been viciously battling within 72 hours of that statement?  It doesn't happen that fast.  Not even if it's "top priority".

Not even if it's "top priority".

You still don't make claims you can't back up. You can either say "I don't know" or "No".

Also "We have no plans to do so in the standard controller that ships with PlayStation 3."

So far, to me, that says they don't have plans for a standard controller that ships with the PS3.  Also, don't counter it with the third party remark as that deals with wheels and other periphrials, not the PS3 controller itself. And so far, the 40GB I think still ships with the SixAxis instead of the Dualshock 3. They didn't lie about that, though with the MGS4 bundle, it's going to ship with the dualshock 3 I believe.

Now that is something there. He said they don't have plans to do that in the STANDARD controller that SHIPS with the PS3, not that they don't have plans to make one with rumble at all.

"You don't make claims you're not sure of. You can either say "I don't know" or "No, no plans at the moment." If you make claims you can't back up, chances are a lot of people will be pissed at you. A lot more than if you were to just do something you said you had no plans on doing before."

I didn't say it directly, but I did say that one was a worse lie than the other in that last sentence.

He states that they will not be putting rumble in the standard controller that ships with the PS3, this still leaves room for first-party controllers you buy seperately. All that is stated is NO PLANS FOR RUMBLE IN CONTROLLERS THAT SHIP WITH PS3. *states opinion on subject* PERIPHERIALS CAN CONTAIN RUMBLE, NOT FROM US.

That wasn't a twist of logic, because so far, I don't think they've shipped the Dualshock 3 with any of the PS3s so far. And Sony hasn't made any peripherials that include rumble so far. They said they weren't going to be including rumble in controllers that ship with the PS3, and so far that's been the truth. Whether he intended to say there will be no rumble at all in that first sentence or not, the way he is saying it, he wasn't lieing. There hasn't been a PS3 shipped with the Dualshock 3, and there hasn't been rumble in a first-party peripherial.

I remember czeching the Wikipedia page for Metroid Prime: Hunters on the DS right when it was about to come out, and somebody had edited all the weapons and characters before we knew about them. One of the weapon descriptions was simply "it roxorz your boxorz."

Phil Harrison is a big lying twat. This has been proven time and time again. Let it go. It doesn't mean your games aren't fun anymore because somebody lied about your controllers so as not to get people to wait for rumble. He was desperate to sell PS3s, because it had the most pathetic launch of this generation, so he lied about the changes that THEY WERE DEFINITELY ALREADY WORKING ON IN COURT. He was desperate and lied. We know how and why. We're all over it now. We can all enjoy our games and systems now. But we won't forget that he's a liar.

Let it go already. Geez, I shouldn't have brought up the whole controller thing... T.T

I don't like the guy myself, and the guy has been known to lie...just he didn't really even lie about this one. He said they didn't have plans for rumble in the standard controller that ships with the PS3...and so far that has been perfectly true until the MGS4 bundle comes out. But whatever, what I was arguing with was the fact people were saying he was saying they didn't have rumble because it was "last-gen".

In any case...I had a laugh myself from the first post until I got to the controller post. I'll let it go, sorry for the fuss.

If you are seriously taking the position that the Dual Shock 3 will not replace the Sixaxis as the controller included with new PS3s, your foolishness eclipses even what I had imagined.
