Forums - General - (unofficial) Nine Inch Nails Sales Figures Released for Ghosts

Fresh out of the box, the numbers for the first week of the Nine Inch Nails release of Ghosts has been released, and all in all, it was a pretty good week to be Trent Reznor.

The magic number was 781,917 downloads. That includes the free and paid downloads plus orders for the physical CD product. As a total, the downloads and physical product orders amounted to a total sales figure of $1,619,420 in U.S. dollars.

In a move that's a reflection of the new musical pardigm we find ourselves in for 2008, NIN will not release the traditional sales figures to SoundScan. A dis? Maybe not.

"These figures represent the most relevant and contemporary metric for measuring how Nine Inch Nails' music is reaching its fans," said NIN manager Jim Guerinot.

I really have no idea if such an amount is good or not, can anyone tell me?

Yeah, that's pretty good.

But since the first nine were free, who wouldn't download free music... legally?

Wow. Ghosts I-IV is still number 1 on the Amazon mp3 album charts. Are those downloads counted too?

Wow, those are some very, very nice numbers for NIN. Their retail releases often don't do that well in the first week. Impressive, for sure.

I ordered the 2-disc set, and after you've ordered it, you also get to download the high bitrate mp3s or the FLAC lossless right away.

Too bad they didn't do it that way for Saul Williams, where the only options were free or $5 for digital downloads only - no CD option, which I gladly would have paid for.

wow that's great Impressive numbers
