Forums - Gaming - The Witcher 3 PC Ultra vs PS4 [almost no difference?]

Did you know that Shovel Knight on the Wii U and PC look the same on SUPER ULTRA settings therefore PC gaming sucks big donkey cock?

If you can't see much difference, then The Witcher 3 is most likely not pushing high PC specs to start with. /shrug Not sure why people still give a shit, the only shit I give is 60+ FPS if possible, so, how is the frame rate on the PS4 version anyways?

This sounds disingenuous. He's leaving out the majority of pc users who don't have a high end PC. It was not just consoles holding their game back. Look at Steam hw survey: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

The majority of people have 1GB or less VRAM in their gpu's. They had to consider everyone when making the game, they needed everyone's money. It was disingenious to show the early graphics off on a high end system when they knew only a minority would be able to run it like that.  But no, it's easier to blame "lolconsulz" now.

You're the one being disingeuous. Trying to spin it to make the console's limited power to be less of a problem. You're clearly dismissing this part to push that spin of yours:
"But working on the game across 3 platforms did not make it feasible to keep features included that could potentially break the game as we kept building around it. "

Read my comment again before you hit the reply button. The majority of pc's are not even as powerful as the PS4, stop getting excited and click the link of the steam hw survey in my previous post. A huge majority of pc users don't have enough vram. When making a game which I'm sure you haven't, you want to reach as many people as you can, not just the elite. Crysis is the last that did this, which wasn't worth it considering the sequels went to consoles day 1. Even Witcher 2 which was PC exclusive for a whole year (aka not held back by consoles), didnt look that much better than anything else in that generation. This is because the lowest common denominator is also a part of the pc audience. The high end users are a minority.

That's why PC games have scalability options. So... What are you on about?

Who's being desingenuous again?

The hell? How did you come to that ridiculous conclusion by reading that comment, did u actually read it? There's nothing that constitute "hatred" towards whatsoever.

Star Citizen is a special case like you said, though it's worth nothing they get funded by asking 100s(and 1000s for some) of $ for virtual ships. It's basically the biggest pay 2 win game ever. I'm excited for it as well.

Also I'm just wondering, with all the "lolconsuhz" stuff, why there is no PC exclusive that look so much better. I mean there is no consoles holding them back.

It sounds like you are tohugh with the agressive tone at the start, there's really no need to purposely split the PC community directly in two to blame one half and then pin it on them in general, what's been noted before and for a long long time is that console ahrdware has held PC's back for a while, it's not born from hatred, it's just facts but instead you've gone to splitting the PC community into two and pinning it on the lower end, Star Citizen does look stunning and yet they too will have a lower end to cater towards as well and they are definitely managing it, the game is not just going to be high end or bust, this is why a good chunk of the blame is now laying on two other platforms because as it was noted before in this thread CDPR didn't know the full specs of 8th gen until they actually released them, in effect those two held it back ebcause they had to make changes for those primarily due to weaker specs, not just ebcause of weaker HW users on PC, those guys have been around since W1/2 and they didn't hold it back as bad as 8th, they even came out with an enhanced edition after the 360 release was shown to have held them back a bit.

The downside now is that those expecting an Enchanced edition for PC like 2 won't be seeing it because this early already it;s shown that there's not much that can be stretched in improvements and refining since they've already pointed out that they can't/aren't making another different version, they could probably throw out examples of "higher res textures" but I doubt they will be worlds apart types.

There are definitely exclusives coming out that look a lot better, the problem is this gen has been marketed as 1080/60 for 8th gen, when neither can hit the mark but a PC can then you're seeing a difference, when PS4/PC Witcher 3 looks almost the same then there's an actual problem going on (like parity for instance), the consoles of this gen started out much weaker than last gen and it's already been noted and dicussed all over the web, the PS4 doesn't just magically catch up to doing what a high end PC can do right now, the ceiling has already been hit and the gap in returns will grow like it did last gen for PC, but when you see Witcher 3 PS4/PC that's not because PS4 caught up, that's because of the hardware limitations and the devs having to make one version which meant the PS4/XB1 did in fact hold the PC version back.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

They should change the graphics setting on PC games from now on. The "ultra" setting should be "PS4 like" now.

Scalability doesn't affect geometry, lighting system, asset density, AI etc. Tell me about the scalability of the untouched, made with pc in mind Witcher 2?

Because the lower end has worse hardware than consoles. I mean, I linked the steam hw survey. The belief that "every pc is stronger than consoles and every pc gamer has a high end system" needs to stop. They don't. Remember last PC game that blatantly targeted high end pc's was Crysis from 2007. Tell me why no pc game has done that since?

On PC, don't forget this can run at 1080p40fps+ on decent hardware

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
