Forums - Sony - Do you think PSNow will ever achieve current Remote play quality?

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to compare as I haven't used PSNow (unavailable in my region), but if I recall correctly it's still limited to 720p 30fps and probably has more input lag

Remote play right now is excellent, after the last FW updates. Aside from running at 60fps, lag is not noticeable in most cases. A lot of games feel like they're actually being played natively on the Vita, instead of streamed. You gotta try it out for yourself to believe it.

The fact that it's a slightly lower res (960x544 instead of 720p) helps but that's not a big difference, and PSnow servers have (should?) better capabilities than your home connection. But then there's ping/distance..

It'd be nice if they are able to do it.

It'd be even nicer to get local PS2 emulation but that's another matter.

Sure it will, eventually.

well, hardly any PS3 game runs at higher than 720p/30, so for most it would be kind of a waste to stream in higher quality than that

True for resolution but there's still a decent amount of games that run higher than 30 (though most run at a variable framerate instead of constant 60fps)

Sure. In 10 years everything will be better.

I guess I need to give Remote Play another shot. Last time I tried it (TLoU R), it didn't work all that well. As for PSNow, I assume that as internet speeds improve, it will also improve. Not my cup of tea, though.

It will surely get better. Internet speeds will get faster, Sony will update their Tech and so on.

I haven't tried TLOU either. It can be a bit hit and miss I guess. Driveclub doesn't work very well (feels more laggy, plus it uses so much connectivity for its features that it gets slow due to streaming), but MKX, suprisingly, does, all the combos came through fine
