XCX won't be their holiday game, it does not have the necessary mainstream appeal.

Their big November releases are always a game that can sell to the masses; Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda, etc.

This. People here don't realise that not all Wii U owners should be excited about strange japanese j-rpg with MMO combat. Of course Nintendo will pretend that XCX is their big holiday title and everybody must buy it.

I think Curl is saying that is coming before holidays. Not on 2016.

What do you mean?  Its the exact same design.

The whole map is open from the beginning of the game and XCX has far fewer boundaries and much more verticality. I'd say the differences in how you will move throughout the world are pretty massive.

I see. I dont really look at it as radically different but just as a natural extension of the design with the larger hardware capabilities. The game still flows about in a similar way, its just allowing even more freedom of exploration.

Well, intrinsically, I would say it does have the potential for wide mainstream appeal beyond current Wii U owners.  It's a scifi, open world RPG.  Even the combat is similar to games that are popular in the west.  The weakness is lack fo brand power; the IP is too young.  So yes, it lacks the power.

Holiday title is more likely to be Star Fox for the brand recognition.  Unless they have something else.

I need to see that Xenoblade video very soon.

I think Star Fox or Animal Crossing will be the big holiday title this year.

I really can't imagine Nintendo would put that kind of pressure on an IP like Xenoblade just yet. Far more likely that they will make it a summer/fall release.
