Forums - Sony - New PS Vita Not Coming After All

Just yesterday, a trademark surfaced for what appeared to be a newly redesigned model of the PlayStation Vita. However, that doesn't appear to be the case after all.

According to DualShockers, the "(位置商標)" in the trademark actually refers to a positional change of an element within the product rather than a modification in its design. As such, Sony's filed request isn't in reference to what many assumed to be the hypothetical "super-slim" Vita 3000.

According to Sony's full trademark listing, the registration is actually in reference to the three-dimensional position of the face buttons, not the shape or general form factor of the console itself.

With these new facts, it seems that Sony hasn't yet filed a trademark for a third iteration of the PlayStation Vita. That, however, doesn't preclude the company from revising its handheld again at some point in the future. If Sony does end up refreshing the hardware once more, what would you like to see changed and/or added?

We've reached out to Sony for additional clarification.

Makes sense... If they ever decide to do it though... Please give us a microsd card and please launch with games that aren't 2 years old

This and possibly one with the good old OLED screen, having seen that up close I really can't see myself going for the regular washed out screens the current models use.

Also the price point would be a nice factor since most games are ports from one to multiple systems, price it right with micro SD and you'll make money, OLED would be great.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Well this is debunking that trademark, we may still see a new vita later this year. We didn't find out about the N3DS or Vita 2000 far in advance

To bad I wanted

Oled (without splotches/spots)
SD cards as memory cards
10h battery life
Analog sticks 10x as good as the ones on the original Vita (never touched the Vita 2000 so no Idea how those are but the OG vita had the worst analogs I ever used)
HDMI out and bluetooth support for PS3 controllers (so its basically a Vita TV  that can play all games not just some  even if most of the games need to be played in handheld mode)

If Sony decides to make a new Vita model:

- Keep memory cards but drop price drastically (majority of people that ask for micro/sd cards is because they're cheaper), this way current Vita owners can still use their current Vita memory cards

- Add L2/R2 shoulder buttons and L3/R3 analog click buttons so that the Vita will have every control feature a DS3/DS4 controller has thus nobody can use the excuse that 'its not possible to bring this game onto Vita due to the different controllers' etc.

- A smaller design similar to the PSP Go design where you can hide your buttons. Can keep the same screen size, possibly like the exact size of the mainline Xperia Z models but thicker to enclose the hidden buttons.

- If Sony isn't making alot of their Vita games not compatible with the PSTV then is it possible to reverse Remote Play so that you can play your Vita onto your TV via PS4. This way you can still use your Vita as the controller making all touchscreen features still usable. *No point in having an HDMI port and use a DS3/DS4 if you'll still need to use the touchscreen for certain games unless they expect us to use a long HDMI wire connected from our Vita to TV while using the Vita still to play on the couch, not in this day of wireless age.

- Bring back the OLED screen and improve battery life
