bull

it just make sense

xbox is gaming

Not really considering how long they have been trying to push it. No matter if you like it or not MS WILL sell Xbox eventually unless they drastically change their business model (probably not going to happen)

Just because you keep hoping it will happen doesn't mean it will. There is no reason for them to sell the Xbox division if its profitable, why would it all of a sudden stop being profitable.

If MSFT really wants to distance themselves from xbox, why is the new browser called spartan? Why is the helpful assistant named cortana? Why is xbox live being ingrained with windows 10? Also why would MSFT include XB1 in develop 1 time for all devices. Yawn aren't you guys tried of this crap.

apparently Halo is more famous then Xbox brand

It's just the way you phrased your statement. Just because something is profitable doesn't mean you wouldn't get rid of it.

Example: Thousands of products in history that have been successful and then sold to someone else for a lump sum because owner didn't value the future of the product.

As always all eyes on Microsoft.

How can they not be when MS is so huge and obviously a company that will stay around way longer than most. #KeepHopeAlive

They spent the last 13-14 years trying their best to tie anything and everything to the XBOX. Now they are making a clear break from that and it is a good thing? Yes MS is huge company which is exactly why they dont live and die by one product line. The whole concept with the XB1 was to be the multimedia center that everything revolved around why would they distance their other products from it?

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

I would understand that if Microsoft didn't care/have faith in the future of Xbox, but why wouldn't they? It's still profitable and still has a strong future.

Even if Xbox is still profitable and Microsoft one day randomly said they don't care about it anymore, you could say that about any company though. Sony could randomly say they don't care about Playstation and get rid of it one day as well, same with Nintendo and basically any company.

Playstation is like Sony's second best division

xbox doesn't even earn MS a tenth of what they make in a quarter, in a year.
There's a difference in scope.

It's actually really complicated. Has to do a lot with stock price and margin etc etc. I'd be writing for a page, but MS would be better off without the xbox. The brand can stay, unless someone bids excessively for it, in which case windows is always a good backup....but the box..? meh.

As far as anyone can guess, Xbox isn't profitable - the division it's in is, but that is something else.

That isn't the main problem though. The real issue is that to management and stockholders, even if Xbox was able to turn a small profit, the resources spent getting there could be used in other places for much higher gains - especially now that "the living room" no longer has the importance it seemed to have when MS started the Xbox project.

I agree... Sort of.

All consoles will soon be gone in the traditional sense . I guess another 2 generations. I don't understand targeting of the xbox, though.
