But honestly, let's say this is true. Why are you guys so happy about it? When has it ever been better for any industry to have less competition?

Just like konami was devoted to giving kojima everything he needed. Just like kojima is devoted to finishing these upcoming projects. Just like Sony was devoted to the minidisc. Just like Microsoft was devoted to Zune. Just like Sony was devoted to the Vita.

It happens, that's just business talk. In truth there just really is no need for the xbox.

I mean seriously, tell me what the xbox does that microsoft can't do for cheaper?
Google, Apple, Samsung, Amazon all can do what the xbox is doing on a thumbdrive plugged into the back of the tv.

How can they not be when MS is so huge and obviously a company that will stay around way longer than most. #KeepHopeAlive

I always thought it was strange for them being called Xbox Music and Xbox Video. This change makes a lot of sense.

By all means, convince me that xbox is staying around other than Satya saying it would.

There is plenty of room for more to join. Samsung is interested in releasing a gaming machine, and Valve is releasing a console this very year. If you're going to take a shot at my logic by raising a strawman argument, at least have some evidence that what you're saying is actually happening.

MS attaching Xbox to some of their other services was a weak attempt that didn't work (so it seems). I don't think it has to do with Xbox being in a negative light (ie division about to be sold off, as impled by op).
