Forums - Sony - Bloodborne Review Thread - MetaCritic 93% ~ GameRankings 91.47%

Did so many of you really need meta scores to validate your wanting this game?

Not at all.  I bought battlefield hardline instead of this and it got a 75. I also bought the order 1886 and I'm thoroughly enjoying both more then I'd enjoy this. These threads are still fun whether the score is high or low.

Is it true that metacritic doesn't give all its review sites equal weight?

None of the 7s have been added yet. Good chance that will knock it down a point, even if those sites aren't weighted particularly much.

I did a quick poking about, and i'm not sure the 7's actually will be added. The only gamereactor site that was previous listed on metacritic was Sweden, and their reviews haven't been counted on any recent games (not sure why). The other 7 (7.5?) has never been listed. Always a chance they'll suddenly pop up though.

I do expect Bloodborne to be knocked down a little at some point though. At 93 even a 9/10 is sometimes scratching it down lol (depending on the weight).

IGN, Polygon and Kotaku's review will probably decide it since they're weighted the most I am assuming.

Yep, it's somewhere in their methodology. Certain sites are valued higher than others.

Edit: Here's the paragraph on it:

Why the term “weighted average” matters

Metascore is a weighted average in that we assign more importance, or weight, to some critics and publications than others, based on their quality and overall stature. In addition, for music and movies, we also normalize the resulting scores (akin to "grading on a curve" in college), which prevents scores from clumping together.

Yes, it's a weighted average. Bigger sites like IGN and Gamespot's review carry more weight towards the average. It's one reason why some people prefer Game Rankings.

Didnt get Batlefield but I loved the Order. Anyway its nice when a game from a series youre a fan gets worldwide recognition/praize.

Yeah it must be sweet for fans of what was once an extremely niche series to explode like this.  Great to see.
