Easily one of my top five games of last gen. Loved it!

Found it quite overated to be honest. After hearing all the talk about how good it was I picked it up when the dark arisen version was released. I enjoyed the game but it didn't Blow me away like it seems to have done with a lot of people. Can't really pinpoint why though.

Good read. I agree with you about the nickel-and-diming but, if you get Dark Arisen, it includes all of the small items and quests.

At what point did you stop though?

Got it with PS+, played a few hours and uninstalled. Something didn't click for me with that game. Wasn't compelled by the setting or story, gameplay didn't hook me, and the pawn thing was just weird. But it's cool other people like it. I'm sure somebody will say "you should have played just one more hour / until the 2nd boss" or something.

Well that would be accurate. I didn't like it all that much until the story go really going and started to get into classes, equipment, etc.

Finished the game. I think the world just didnt suck me in, very important for an rpgs world to suck me in if im going to spend a lot of time playing it. The elder scrolls games had the same problem for me.

That was just an impressions thread but it exploded into the "official" thread, somehow. I didn't even change the thread title--I think a Mod did. By the time I reached the credits, I was in LOVE with the game. Bought Dark Arisen, too.  Need to get back to it. Bitterblack Island was kicking my ass!

I enjoyed it after first, the exploration, combat was all good. The story was utter nonsense though. No idea what it was about. No idea why I was falling in that massive hole.

I traded the game in and got Dark Arisen for nothing because of reasons but didn't play it at first, I went back not long ago, went into the Dark Arisen new stuff and got my arse handed to me by apparently (as someone here told me) Death, who can't be killed. Gave up.
