Hello everyone, and welcome to part 2 of what gaming did for me. This time, we are going to take a look at one of the most celebrated franchises in PlayStation history: Ratchet & Clank. That being said, let us get started.
A pair you wouldn't expect to save a Galaxy, and in A Crack In Time the Universe, turned out to be an influential cornerstone in solidfying and teaching many things to not only me, but others. Ratchet, who was selfish, but always came to the help of others, and Clank, the intellectual that always deems that the mission at hand must be completed, but compromises to see what else a side objective holds, were interesting characters in the story of Ratchet and Clank. While the main stars taught me positive things as well, the villains ultimately became the 'heroes' for me; solidifying what I may have become had I took the path I was currently taking; self-centered, greedy, and manipulate. Even side characters like Al taught me research is key towards fixing certain issues; something I would learn well throughout the game. However, while the characters were great, the gameplay itself would help me mature further into gaming.
Initially, being only 10 years of age, weapons in any games was prohibited from my house, even though Melee got away with said rule somehow. Upon starating and playing the game throughout, I became admired at how there were not only platforming elements as I had seen previously in Banjo, but weapons as well, and lots of them too! From the Bomb Glove, Suck Cannon, Whooper, and even Gold Bolt variants like the Tesla Claw, to the comical ones like the Sheepinator, variety was plentiful in this game. Not only weapons, but gadgets as well; my favorite being the Magnet Boots. However, no matter the case may be, variety was something I would end up to admire in Video Games since there were so many ways to go about completing an objective. Not only that, after my parents saw this game, the 'Gun Control' policy was abolished; thereby allowing me to play other games like Jack and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Psychonauts, and even Devil May Cry (..... don't ask... for even I don't know how my parents accepted said game).
So, what did Ratchet and Clank do for me exactly? Both characters and the game taught me valuable lessons. The game taught me that variety further increases a games replay ability, and betrayals in games can happen at any given time. For the characters, Ratchet's growth taught me that putting others before yourself can yield reward, and Clank taught me that diligence, persistence, and hardwork can pay off in the long run.
Well, that concludes part two of what gaming did for me. Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed. With two down, there's only one game left, and that's coming from the Microsoft side. Until then, this is thread that is;

P.S. I was going to link up Part One.. but... chances are I am not sure if you all want to read that much.
