Maybe in this contest right now, but overall? It's a miracle he made it this far and you know it. If it weren't for me and a couple other fans being more dedicated than the Charizard hoarde, and everyone else for that matter, he'd never have beaten Blastoise, much less have a shot at first. Charizard isn't even the favorite of everyone voting for him, he's just a dragon and that automatically makes him cooler in most people's eyes. Outside of this contest, in the world at large, Charizard is the most popular starter of all time, except for Pikachu, but that's only because of the anime.

He is exceedingly awesome, yes. I'd rather he won than Charizard. But it was the anime and Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition that made him so awesome. And a Pikachu edition of first gen only happened because of the anime.

And btw, can someone explain why Pichu has never been a starter? I mean, that would be awesome imo. It would be perfect and parallel the other starters with 3 evolution levels.
