Forums - Gaming - Capricorn 7 is a spiritual successor to Future Cop: LAPD heading for crowdfunding soon

Capricon 7, Future Cop should be familiar to anyone who ever played the 1998 mech-based action game Future Cop: LAPD.

However, while it may take the futuristic third-person tactical action of that game, it’s differentiated by being a multiplayer battle arena, or MOBA.

The idea is that you become a member of one of three factions – either the police, rebels, or mercenaries – and then go into battle across a  dark city.

There are multiple types of vehicles available, including huge tanks, mechs, and hover planes, as well as infantry-type sentients. All of these carry different types of weapons too, including flamethrowers, mini guns, concussion beams, and hyper-velocity rockets. Special weapons are more devastating, such as the shockwave generator and mortar launcher.

Currently, Capricorn 7, Future Cop is in early development. The team is hoping to launch a crowdfunding effort soon. It seems that there are plans for two more games in the Capricorn 7 series to be released after Future Cop, called Civil War and Price of Freedom.

You can find out more about the game on its website.

Great Googly moogly, that game was alot of fun.
Shame that it is a MOBA now, as I have no interest in playing those games.

You know, I've been saying for years that I wish someone would make a game like Future Cop, and now it's here... I'm not that excited.

Although I realise it's still early, this game is literally the same as FC.  Like, that's X1-Alpha in the screenshot.  The map from the video is just Training Ground from the game.  And the fact it's a MOBA doesn't entice me much either.  I realise that precinct assault mode was basically an early MOBA, but hearing it called that now is a bit ehh.

It's weird, because a blatant clone of WipEout like Formula Fusion gets me excited, but I'm feeling nothing for this.

I'll keep an eye on it in any case.  Hope it doesn't get shut down for being too blatant a clone (not that EA cares).

really enjoyed Future cop and precinct assault but like you guys not interested in any moba ,wouldn't mind a strike game either nothing fancy something along the lines of nuclear strike with today's polish.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot
