Forums - Gaming - Are Souls games hard for you even with video guides?

When I played Demons Souls and Dark Souls I used video guides on how to beat the bosses, most of them weren't that hard, honestly Dark Souls was way easier than Demons Souls when I used video guides for both. I remember playing Demons Souls without guides and it was so damn hard I just had no choice to use video guides. I'm wondering if you guys find the Souls games hard even with video guides?

I'm also hesitant to buy Bloodborne day 1 because there will be no guides on day 1 but it looks so damn good.

Not really. I played Dark Souls first and beat it with no guide at all; it was hard at first, but once I mastered it, nothing could stop me (well, except for Orstein & Smough, really). When I later played Demon's Souls, it felt way easier, so I beat it with no problem aside from Impalator, who really got on my nerves.

I did have to use a guide with Dark Souls 2, but not because difficultness, but rather, a very cheap gaming design that punished offline players like me.

The idea is to play them without guides! Otherwise they are too easy, there are a bunch of ways to exploit some bosses and it takes the fun away.

First souls game you play will always be the hardest. People who played demons first says is the most difficult one and people who played dark first say otherwise.

With guides both easy.

I'd never play with a guide first time around, that spoils the novelty of the game.
Play with a guide the 2nd time round or not at all.

im stuck in second boss.
im not using guides, ill try forever.

I'd probably play them without guides first and if I get to point where the game gets frustrating, then I'd try video guides.

I don't use guides and I never summon a companion. I find it more fun that way. I do summon my friends sometimes, but not in the first playthrough.

I played demon souls and died very often until I realized that if you exit the game from the menu, you would start where you left it but in human form, you cant do that in dark souls. Dark souls was easier due to knowing how to play a soul game.

souls games arent hard, they just punish players who arent cautious enough, that being said i will agree that for some various reasons i did found Demons Souls to be the hardest of the two.

and i love a challenge so ive never used a video guide for a game (much less for a souls game) and cant wait for Bloodborne, and all the challenges that it will provide me.
