Forums - General - So what's popular among pirates?

Close to a million is very low. You can't really keep track of multi posted torrents. But you also got to realize that nowhere near that amount of people would actually have bought the game if they couldn't just download it for free, or have bought the game at a reasonable price. An idustry guy just estimated that they lose 1 sale for every 1000 downloads. I think that's a bit low, but it's something to seriously take into consideration.

I hear booty is pretty popular among pirates. And rum.

Arrrgh, a fine lass is always popu--

Oh.

Crazy thing is, on quite a few torrent sites, Starcraft is consistently in the top 20, if not the top 10.

Blank? Blank.

That's total BS. It is no lower than 1 out of every 10.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I can't say much. But i can say one thing. I know quite a few people who pirated UT3. They bought the game after due to them wanting the online gameplay after enjoying the single player

A lot of pirates try before they buy basically. There are a lot that dont but its a 50/50 split. Except for garbage games like Turning Point. Pirates should pirate that trash and never buy.

Another good point. Alot of "pirates" do buy the good games they download. It's only in places where people can't afford to buy the games in the first place, that this doesn't happen.

And 1 out of 10 you get from where?

There is no chance that half of pirates end up buying the game, I'm sorry the world just isn't like that.
