Great, pop-ups while playing startcraft.... Fun. Activision SUCKS

I will not buy this game if it has in-game advertising.
Our world does not mesh with the starcraft universe at all.

I'd love it if they put it in the extra dialogue, when you click a unit multiple times.
I still remember the bear druid in WCIII, saying
"only you can prevent forest fires"
and those spider thingys saying
"My ass was on spiderman but my face was on the national geographic channel."
and those female centurions.
"Time for me to do my human call! I'm wasted! I'm so wasted!!!"

I will put money on the fact that Activision does not have enough say in Blizzard affairs to make this happen. I will also bet money that there is not one in-game advertisment in Starcraft 2. We will see tournaments sponsored by real companies and their logos will be plastered all over everything advertising for the tournament. Blizzard is the sole reason VUG was ever profitable and everyone knows it. Blizzard is far more importan to Vivendi than Activision is, and they are certainly going to do whatever the hell they want like they always have. The important part of that quote is "trying." Blizzard will never, ever allow that kind of shit to fly, and they definatly have the leverage to put their foot down.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

yeah, its probably billboards or something on the landscape itself. If you watch any of the tournaments they have in Korea, they already do this by inserting logos straight into the landscape itself (like a pringles logo on a bridge). I suspect they will do this probably during Battle.net to offset online costs, but most likely during corporate sponsered tournaments.
Its not a HUGE deal, really. And its not going to be so blatent that it disturbs gameplay.

so if they are going to have in-game adverts the game should launch at budget price right? Obviously they will still want the full price for the game but I doubt I'll be buying it at that price....
My first thought when I saw the thread title was "that's it, I'm not buying it". However, it depends on how the ads are used.
If they place ads inside the maps, fuck' em. If it's just in between matches, while waiting for the game to start, that's ok (not great but it wouldn't prevent me from buying it).

Again, i think its mostly for Multiplayer Map Packs. What if Pepsi wanted to make their own maps? Then you can download them for free and play them at LAN parties.
Or if Pepsi wanted to hold a tournament, then everyone could download the pack and practice them, and then the tourney would also have the maps featured by Pepsi.
It's already being done in Korea with SC 1.
