Forums - Sony - 60Gig vs. 80Gig PS3

If you care that MUCH for BC then (American) 60gb version is the way to go. Otherwise I'd take 80gb version anytime, it's a lot quieter and runs cooler too.

Seriously? I can't hear my 60Gb PS3 if I'm just breathing. I probably would have gone with the 80GB, though, because 20GB and a bundled game is nicer than a few more PS2 games being compatible. The 80GB still has BC. Edit: Actually, it's closer, because the 60GB also has the card readers (for SD, Memory Stick, Compact Flash). However, I haven't used those yet. I might for transfering pictures but I've just been using a USB drive for PC-to-PS3 stuff, including divx/xvid movies, songs, game saves, etc. A reader for PSP memory might be useful, too, but you can connect that via USB as well. That uses the same connection as the PS3 controllers and doesn't require you to remove the memory stick. So yeah, unless you just won't play Motorstorm at all or happen to have a PS2 game that won't work on the 80GB PS3, the 80GB is a slightly better deal AT THE SAME PRICE. If it's $50 cheaper: no question.

i luv my 20GB

dont have wireless and havent felt cheated with the smallest HD offered. All my music/videos are stored on the PC anyways and just use the PS3 as media server for that stuff. and 20 GB has been plenty for all my demos and downloaded games. i do think mine is getting louder. dust+wear on fans i guess.
