Forums - Sony - 14 Consecutive PS3 Wins over 360!

There's almost nothing Microsoft can do to salvage this generation. They can't compete on quality, they have no advantage in games (Sony's big exclusives are coming on strong), they can't compete on media (no built-in next-gen media), they can't compete on storage (you can pop a new hard drive into Sony's machine, no problem), they can't compete on fun and family-friendly (the Wii takes the cake). Their price advantage is chimerical - Sony is making so much money in EU markets, it could afford a $50 price cut without breaking a sweat.

I seriously have to question why Microsoft is in this industry. It may be time for Samsung or some up-and-coming Taiwanese company to get into the console biz, and provide some honest competition for Sony.

Sony doesn't have a single AAA exclusive, MS has 5.

MS has one of the leading high-definition download services, Sony has a price-increasing format that is yet to prove it can survive against DVD and downloads long enough to become mass market.

Joe Six Pack isn't aware he can switch harddrives, Microsoft has the largest hardrive built into the console.

Microsoft beats any other console on fun, but I concede is has far fewer g rated games than the Wii.

Sony is making plenty of money off inflated EU hardware prices (hardly a thing on software), but MS is making plenty of money off every PC in existence.  They could afford a $150 price drop without breaking a sweat, they just don't want to.

By honest competition do you mean beating the PS3 by more than the 6 and a half million the Xbox 360 is, or more than the 11 million the Wii is?

Wow, we had a fair debate, and then a total fanboy response walked in the room.

I assume your talking about the highlighted trolling parts of Slorg's post?

You couldn't possibly be talking about my post, or you would have offered some sort of reasoning as to why you disapprove of my logic.  Noone would be silly enough to presume to try and negate my arguments simply by saying the word fanboy now would they?

I'd like to make one last comment about PS3 leading price drops. Do you all think that having so many price cuts in such a short period could hurt consumer confidence? After all, I recall when Xbox lowered it's price in less than a year, they had to placate customers in Japan and Europe by offering free games and controllers to those that bought their system early.

I feel that cutting too much in too short a period could anger customers. But then I thought RRoD would fuck over MS, so who knows.

What customers? No one was buying it :p

Seriously though, yes to your question. But i don't think the rate it has dropped over the time it has been out is cause for that type of concern. Plus, most everyone who bought a PS3 at launch (60 Gig here) knew it was overpriced. Most early adopters recognize that they are paying a premium for it.

If a company dropped something $100, and then a month later did it again (like Apple did), that would be a different story.

@TheRealMafoo don't even bother with that guy...he seems to have stock in MS.... at the most, refer him to the title of the thread, and see if he stops spitting over his head.

Slorg doesn't seem like the kinda guy to buy stock is MS;)

Seriously what part of my post was illogical to you?  Tell me what it was so I can try to better explain it.

lol, thanks. Good advice. When someone puts comments in there thread like "PS 3 has no AAA exclusives", and "MS beats any other console on fun", how do you respond?

I love my PS3, but for pure fun, nothing beats the Wii.... nothing. Especially not the 360 (and I own all three).

EDIT: pure fun with respect to gaming. There are other things in life a lot more fun :)

Im sorry, I honestly thought you must be thinking about other parts of my post, because the no "AAA" exclusives is the only non-debatable part of my post.

Simply go on to gamerankings.com and you will find the PS3 doesn't have a single 90%+ exclusive game.

Thanks for playing.

p.s. have you played Bioshock, GeoW, Saint's Row, Mass Effect etc?  I own a Wii but I have to say beyond SMG it doesn't currently have anything that matches those games.

Dude just accept it, MS put out yet another crappy console.  You had a year head start and the Wii sold more in half the time as your precious XB 360.  Then as you nicely put a system with no AAA exclusives and a higher pricetag starts to outsell WW your precious XB 360 with your 5 AAA games.  Pretty pathetic so how about you go play your 5 exclusives while the rest of us not living in denial have a normal conversation.
