Pay an extra $10 at newegg for a 8600gt and you could get 30% more power.

Try to avoid those cars 8400 or Ati equivalent, spend more money and get a 9600 or a 3850(after the price cut), and try to find out if you have a nice psu... if you can get a x1950 Pro from ati...

sc9457-This other card for $50, what kind of games can I play with it and on what settings? Examples are fine of some popular games.

FJ-Warez-I'm only looking to spend about $50 so how much are the cards you're speaking of?

You could play about any game[no crysis]. Newer games on med/low ,and older than 4 months med/high. Older than year highest settings. It will be outdated in about a year though.

Mmmm, you could probably play any game of the last year at low@ 800*600, older games are going to get better, but the card wont last two years... both the 9600 and the 3850 are below $200, but if you are lucky you could get the x1950 for less than $150, and those card should last two years... sorry, cheap PC gaming is not that cheap... probably you sould buy a 7600 gt or a 7900 gt, I don't know how much cost now, but since they are last gen, they are not so expensive anymore...

Oh and the other specs of your pc determine what setting such ram and cpu.

Thanks. I'm not looking into getting seriously into PC gaming. I just wanted to know if the card was a good deal and what games it could play. My 360 has most current PC games i'd be even mildly interested in. I was just looking into trying some cheap stuff out from the last few years like Civ IV maybe since the consoles are getting a gimped version or that Warhammer game. They're both usually no more than $10-$15 each, which is some good cheap gaming. There's also some adventure games i'd like to play on the PC. I'll take recommendations on those if anyone is interested in the genre.

That card isnt taht good it is being sold in standard computers, If i was you sould get nvidia 7600 or 7950 if you want to spend abou 100 - 150. but if you want a cheaper ati hd2600 pro sells for 90. I would also recommend the 3850 because it is cheap and pretty good. btw all of these can play crysis(not sure about the 2600 though.) Well happy hunting and good luck

sad part is $40 for the 8400GS is now officially overpriced lol
