I'm on the cusp of purchasing the PS Gold Headsets but I have one main concern. The TV I play games on does not have a proper headphone jack thingy so I can't plug in headphones or earphones into it so the sound will go through the headphone/earphone instead of coming out of the TV speaker. I've read that the PS Gold headset uses bluetooth and that you just need to plug in this usb type thing into the PlayStation console and it'll work.

I just want to make sure that I don't need to have the headset plugged into my TV for the sound to come out from the headset. Also is there a better connection if it was plugged into the TV rather than having it connect through bluetooth? What I mean is does sound differ if you have it connected via bluetooth vs actually plugging it in. My console will probably be at the most 1 meter away from my whilst wearing the headset so distance isn't an issue.

I can't speak for the ps gold headset but I'm assuming every headset that sony have launched officially for gaming are like you described or wanted. http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Stereo-Headset-Playstation-3/dp/B0053OLY9O I bought this want a couple years ago and it's like you wanted. It's also rechargeable using the usb cable that you use for the ps controller. PS god headset should be like that too.

once the dongle is used there is no need to use wires... you simply pair it to the headset and the sound comes through wirelessly

oh and the sound quality is better in wireless mode; also its important to note that the surround sound only works in wireless mode

No worries there. Best example I can give you is that when the usb adapter is placed into my PS3 or PS4, my sound bar doesn't even turn on. Sound goes directly from your PS system to the headset which btw are amazing and as mentioned above the sound quality is much better wireless.

You use it via your console, not the tv.
