Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft: No review embargo on The Crew... but no early review copies either.

Or we, consumers, could be smart enough to wait 2 or 3 days for the first reviews to appear and then make the choice to buy it or not instead of rushing to the stores to get the game on the first day.

Don't look at me, I haven't preordered a game since San Andreas. But let's face it, expecting everyone to wait is not a real solution.

Reviews for all other media are usually up when the movie/book/whatever is launched. That's how it should be.

Oh, I don't expect everybody to wait, but I'm tired of threads or posts here either here and basically everywhere with people complaining about the game, like they did with Destiny, DriveClub, AC:U, ...

Sure, you can blame the reviewers and the publishers, but in the end it was them who decided to buy those games at launch only because of its name, that trailer that wowed them or the ad they saw on TV/youtube, instead of waiting to know if those games were good or bad.

and yet Ubisoft got the nomination for the best publisher awards on Video games 2014 awards. The industry is full of bias

I look forward to a broken launch and 4/10 reviews. Ubi never learns.

There isnt a best publisher category, but there is a developer of the year. Its a bit of a joke to see Ubisoft montreal nominated after the fiasco of AC Unity.

Developer of the Year:

- Blizzard
- Monolith
- Nintendo
- Telltale
- Ubisoft Montreal

Seriously Ubisoft...This doesn't bode well for them.

I'm looking forward to a few games next year and two of them are The Division and RS Siege, but they keep pulling shit like this which is making me not want to get those games day one, but rather wait for reviews and user impressions.

Honestly, I won't preorder or buy games day one from now on unless they are from flawless devs.

That basically leaves CD Projekt, some Sony studios and Nintendo lol.

Just like that! I'm not a big fan of The Witcher, so no CD Projekt for me. I would add to this list: Ninja Theory, Platinum Games, Kojima Productions, Lego games, Codemasters' racing games, 4A games, Rockstar North, SNK, Tekken games and Street Fighter. Maybe I'm forgeting someone, but that's a good start.

Edit: I'm not saying any of these people only release masterpieces. But they already did that more than once, usually relase games ranging from good to awesome and very rarely will release an average game. The worst they do is a dently good game, so no risks here.
