Forums - Gaming - what's wrong with playing a game on casual/easy mode?

There´s nothing wrong with that. absolutely nothing.

Each one enjoys games as he/she pleases. Some people play for the challenge, some play for the story, some play for scapism.

Nothing wrong but personally I don't think easy mode lets you appreciate the game as much and what it has to offer.

ie. why learn moves and combos in Street Fighter when you can button mash your way to win on easy, but those moves and combos is what makes the game so fantastic.

If you were a writer that reviewed games it would be hard for me to even consider taking your article seriously if you've only played on easy. (gameplay wise)

I often play games on easy etc because playing a shooter with an analog stick is like playing Smash Bros with a racing wheel.

Especially when every single controller has a different dead zone (like PS3 controllers have revision A,A1,B,B1 etc)
And when the game is dumb and not hard in terms of game design but hard because bots can aim through walls or well dont have to deal with analog sticks. I play the game on easy/normal.

Most games get unfair instead of harder (bullet sponge VS smarter A.I *etc) so why bother playing with hard(annoying) mode? Of something just consumes time instead of giving you a challenge I go easy mode. (like enemy takes more hits instead of enemy is smarter)

*Because A.I is stuck in the year 2000 or so (FEAR is still one of the best games when it comes to A.I and most games don have that level of A.I)

I play on easy mode (most) of the time because I have better things to do with my life than die thousands of times in a video game, but I still want to enjoy the game.

Often game difficulty is more artificial than anything else. Shooters regularly make the enemies absurdly good shots rather than teach them military tactics. JRPGs tend to make enemies have several zeroes too much health. These don't actually add anything to the game experience (which is what I'm after) but they do give elitist gamers a feather in the cap.

The challenge IS the gaming experience for me. If there's no challenge, I might as well be watching TV.
