Forums - Gaming - what's wrong with playing a game on casual/easy mode?

Mainly I agree with the OP.
If someone play on casual/easy and enjoys that, why on Earth would anyone get upset about that?
Personally I usually start games on normal. If I like them enough I restart on a higher difficulty level.
Others games are interesting experiences but just a pain in the behind on higher difficulties - i.e. Catherine.

Play at whatever level feels right for you and have fun.

Having said that, a game like, for instance, The Last of Us is much more rewarding on harder levels...the AI is more challenging, there are far fewer items to find for making weapons etc, ammunition is in much shorter supply, you get different and tougher enemies in many locations and enemies are harder to sneak past or kill. The same is true of many games. For me, it just feels better to have beaten a game on the harder settings.

I don't understand some of the hate for people that like to play on casual/easy mode. that's all I play my games on these days. I do it for several reasons. I'm all about the gaming experience and not the challenge. I also work overnights and sleep during the day,so I don't play games alot on the weekdays. I love the NFL and when it's football season,I usually just play video games on my second day off and that's it. I just don't simply have time and the interest to play every single game mode. I also don't have the interest to spend hours trying to beat some super hard mode in a game. It's just not pratical for me. So,what the problem is?

Nothing wrong with it.

We just want options.  Let people who want it to be easy, play easy.  Let those that want it average, average.  And let there be a hard mode.

Just like you don't want to be forced to play a super hard game, we don't want to be playing a game holding our hand.

What's funny is that thinking of recent games we have Pokemon OR/AS and its experience share that was introduced in X/Y.  I recal some reviewers of X/Y docking the review score becuase the exp share made the game too easy.  yea not like you can't turn it off or anything.

Nothing at all, play the way you see fit.

Are there really people who hate others that play on easy? I never encountered those. Well, except for the Dark Souls bots who think it's immoral to put an easy mode in their beloved game because it would devalue their oh so great achievements if less gifted people would be able to beat that game as well.

I usually play on normal but there are specific games I will start on easy like Bayonetta for example. I'm not looking for a challenge in games anymore. I just want to experience them. In case of Bayonetta I solely play it for the story and the set pieces. I couldn't give a shit about the gameplay. So easy mode is great for that. If I ever replay TLOU I would set it on easy mode instantly because fuck gameplay, I wanna see the movie.

There are some rare cases of special games I'm really into where I start looking for challenge(and/or trophies). Like Infamous or Mirror's Edge but these cases become fewer and fewer as my time for video games becomes less and less.

It should go without saying, but beating a game on Easy doesn't count as actually beating the game. As long as you're OK with that, there is nothing wrong with playing on Easy. Anyone who plays games exclusively on Easy probably isn't very interested in a sense of accomplishment, so it probably wouldn't even matter to them anyway.

I know some games prevent you from seeing the true ending when playing on Easy, which I think is the best way to handle it. Sometimes you get a bad ending, sometimes the game gets cut short a little bit. Either way allows Easy mode to function as a "training wheels" mode, while still providing incentive to work your way up to Normal.

Too easy.. at least put it on normal lol.

Do people get hate for this? If so I haven't heard it. I usually play on the easiest setting as well, at least for my first playthrough. I also enjoy the overall experience most and just want to enjoy it. (Plus I kind of suck at games.) Challenges are for later plays.

For me personally, I don't get much satisfaction from beating games on hard difficulties. Life is hard enough as it is, why would I make my games harder than I would want. I just prefer being able to breeze through most games without having to die, or restart.

Obviously you don't get much satisfaction from beating games on hard difficulties. You aren't capable of doing so. xD

No... I've beaten many games on harder difficulties. I just don't gain satisfaction from doing so, I choose to play on the easy difficulties.

I know what you mean.  When at a challenging part in a game, on normal mode you beat the challenge and it's like "cool I beat em that was sweet".  On hard it's like "UGH! FINALLY, I beat you, fucking troll."  It's not very fun poping a blood vessel every time a challenge comes up and the game bs' you.

There isn't one, some people just like to attempt to be superior than others or they have the time and are able to put in the effort to be able to play the games beyond what you are speaking of. I don't have the time to put into games as well, but I usually go for the normal settings, but that's just me.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
