Not cheap enough, or they wouldn't have slashed it out of the 40GB SKU to begin with.


 I don't even think it was really for cost cutting measures.  I think they had some other agenda.  It's not like it cost that much after the 80. 

I think they were just worried over the PS3's software numbers.

The PS2 in Japan is a big problem because the PS2 is still getting huge japanese releases.  The PS2 could go all sega saturn on us and still get big japanese releases that never get released in the US. (Or do though only through Wii port.)

Sony stated (I no longer have the source, a Sessler's Soapbox, I think) that they removed BC in the 40GB to get people to buy PS3 games instead of PS2 games.

i wish i got a 60gb last summer instead of a no game bundled 360.

either way i love my 40gb cause i still have my ps2 from 2002 to play my ps2 games, and i use a usb hub, and a usb flash card reader, so i basically have an 80gb console!
