I’d sort of forgotten about EA Access, the Xbox One-only subscription service that allows play of old “in the vault” EA titles, and early access to upcoming games as well. Today marks the most significant use of the service to date, however, as EA is trying to do something that changes the concept of a video game demo.

If you’re an EA Access subscriber, you can now play up to 6 hours of Dragon Age: Inquisition on Xbox One today, five days ahead of the game’s actual launch next Tuesday, November 18th. But why EA is adamant that this is not a demo is because it’s not just a six hour play-test, not really.

Rather, players are downloading the full game, meaning that these first six hours of gameplay will actually be carried over to the final release if players decided to shell out for the full copy. All progress will be saved, and as a result, players have essentially a six hour head start over non-Access players (which shouldn’t be a point of contention in a single-player title).

Funny thing is.. The Announcement of the download on the front page of EA ACCESS brought you to the game for pre-order with a PRICE.. You had to to to the GAME listing on EA Access and show all games.. It was listed as a trial.
